    DICE Interim Report Jan.-Mar. 06'

I get this Email and it's nice to see what's new and how well they are doing, I care about it :), but some may not, but a few interesting things I did see as I scanned the PDF is something about a release for 2 Unnamed titles for this year from EA/Dice for PC and BF2 Deluxe (proly' a Battlechest), neat.
What exactly is H1 and H2, never seen it done in "halves" (At least that's what I think it means), i've only seen it in quarters. Anywho heres the file - Source and if you can't get there from here for some reason head via this route http://global.dice.se/

Damn some of it sounds like good news. However the part of ea merging with dice I want dice to be alone and not have ea meddle with what they do. Ea is just a how shall I say? Medic whore of the pc gaming industry.

EA has owned over 60% of DICE since Jan 2005; the actual merger was only announced two months ago according to the report.

Wow, i was looking for info about total BF2 sales. Great find, champ!

So there is this Table on page 3 (Total sales)
            Battlefield 2----------2'090'000
            Special Forces---------750'000
            Euro Forces------------130'000

OK, these numbers tell me that the marketing of BF2 expansions, hopefully will be changed.
IF i was to make a prediction about the sales of AF i'd say 10'900 lol, following the trend of loosing the majority of customers with each expansion/booster.
My community experience tells me AF will sell above 100'000 copies because it looks better than EF.

            Anyway, that's just speculations.

WOW. EF netted 1.3 million bucks? I bet they lost money on it. think of the researchers, artists, programmers, testers, and all of the work they had to put in keeping their distribution system working on that first day just to get those sales.... and the support team.

Of course they saved some money with not having to press CDs and not sharing profits with the big North American game distributors.
They also don't need to worry about copy protection, which is the biggest problem of Game Developers, i believe.

There must be a way of online game distribution, but not Booster Pack style... and not steam loader.

So from that report I see battlefield 1942 including all expansions and misc. packaging setups sold 4,300,000.

I don't think BF2 will hit this mark.

Yes, it will. I tried a few mods and i can tell you this, Armored Fury will never sell more than 11'000 "copies", but that's a good thing. The core game will sell more in the future.

How do I know? - You might ask. Because i just tried some mods.

Operation Peace Keeper --- wow, very nice --- cool maps, nice models, realism

US Intervention ----------- it's awesome ----- vehicles, A-10, Bradleys, Zoom for chopper gunner and tanks.

Untitled PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PSP* FPS 2007
                      Untitled PC, PS3, Xbox 360 Action 2007
a FPS on the PSP? I cant get used to console FPS .. but handheld? If it where the other way around (Action->PSP; FPS->nonPSP) I would say "MidtownMadness4" and a BF2142 expansion pack .. on the other hand .. there are enough racing games out there, so they might have droped that title completely....

With 2142 coming out BF2 and packs will not sell 1.3million more copies. In my opinion it's official that more people will buy a WWII based battlefield game than modern.

Listen to your numbers EA and release another WWII based battlefield game.

The funny thing is, that the most popular BF 1942 mod has been modern - DC.
It might be just vice versa for BF2 and (?), FH maybe.
High hardware requirements are still a big turn off. But the expansion sold better... than Road to Rome.

EF sold 130,000! Holy crap thats great, didn't see that coming. No wonder they are excited about putting out AF...

                            NO advertising
                            NO Boxes
                            NO cd or CD cases
                            NO shipping to everyone etc...

They made a killing on that.

EF was sold in Boxes in countries, which commonly use safer payment methods than credit card.
There were boxes, but they contained only the dowload code and no cd.
