Yes it's amazing but people still play..

We have a mod for BF1942 called Galactic Conquest.. a Star Wars based with huge capital ships x-wings tie fighters falcon,etc.. tons of maps with both infantry based and total space battle..

I always love infiltrating the capital ships and taking them over.. but also love the space combat dogfights with all the pretty lasers flying.. I consider it one of the best Star Wars fan based mods largely due to BF1942's vehicle physics alone.

If yo uever get a chance to check it out.. its a fun mod.. Sorry but at the time DC was just all the same every map with just different vehicles and practically no new static meshes whatsoever using all the core bf buildings plants trees etc.. for a TOTAL conversion try Galactic Conquest its a blast.

I got BF 1942 after it had been out for about a year, but the peeps that had been playin for 12 months used to kick my noob ass really bad, so it got into COD and a mod called Heat of Battle. Still used to try and play 1942 coz being able, to fly, drive on land and water, and be on foot in one round is great. :)

Yeah i got it when it came out. Then got all the expansions when they came out. It was gold. It was a golden time.

but i'd like to see 42, ported over, exactly to bf2. And no, keep the commander and squad stuff out. Just BF42, ported over to the BF2 engine.

Man, that would be pretty cool.

Port 42 over to BF2..... and sell it. I'd buy it. Not paying alot.......but i'd buy it.

I've never had trouble finding full bf42 servers. I've never found a road to rome server though. Secret Weapons has the TESTQUINN server which is almost always full. Secret Weapons is awesome in my opinion and has the best maps with most excitement -- love the night maps and the jet packs!

there are a lot of mod servers out there. pirates, DC, and Forgotten Hope are the big ones. I loved BF1942, what a great game.

After d/l'ing the Wake Island 42 demo, I couldn't believe how well DICE coordinated and brought together great infantry combat and vehicular madness. And destroyers/aircraft carriers/submarine action? Fawgetabowddit.
Awesome stuff.

After losing my bf42 cd, I went to go pick it up and saw that bundle Zefram mentioned. It's BF42, BF Vietnam, Road to Rome, and Secret Weapons of WWII. All of them for 29.99. Just had to patch and I was good to go. Been playing all day! Note that you can get just BF42 for 9.99.

There are TONS of servers running, and TONS of people playing.

I highly recommend it! Andbody who thinks they're an ace in BF2 oughta try to fly a Mustang against a Me-109, you got nothing but cannons. And bomber pilots will **** themselves when they fly a B-17.

Then the mods, which are just killer. DC is the king of them all, and really a lot like BF2.

I thought it was great, I was flying a light bomber, Me-110, and needed repairs....just landed on a long bridge, whipped out the wrench, and took off. Nice after being so used to having to land on the ONE runway and hope an enemy doesn't come by and blast you on the ground.

It's just a great game, I even prefer it to BF2...at least for a change anyway.

BF1942 was when the BF series was most excellent. Drivable destroyers and aircraft carriers (and subs), dynamite.

I suggest you pick it up, patch to the latest patch and check it out. then install DC .7 (full), then DC_Final, and see what mod pushed EA to make BF2 (as the people that made DC became DICE NY during the bf2 build - they're responsible for commander and difibulator functionality).

Bf1942 is STILL a good buy. If you have the resources, it's a dam fun game.

looks awesome.... I never played 1942...

I was playing HL then went to CS... then went to an HL mod called Natural Selection and started to play with a clan in the Cal league....

then BF2... I can't imagine going back and enjoying those games. BF2 is the best.. bar none.

Well of the games I've played.

Anyone who has not played Natural Selection will surely die in the darkness as 5 Fades and 50 skulks rip them to pieces.
