    What is cover from artillery?

Just wondering, exactly WHAT is cover from arty?

If you die from splash then you get a critically wounded sign. If you take a direct hit then you are killed and your body flies 3 miles across the map.

However, I have been standing beneath ledges and been "killed" by artillery, only to drop dead the same way as you would if you were killed by an AT rocket. If you are killed by artillery don't you fly all teh way up into the sky? Yet arty seems to penetrate ledges, and when you look up the ledges are still intact. This some sort of hack used to make arty go through stuff?

Also is proning or jumping around help you survive a strike slightly better?

A ledge is not proper cover from an arty strike. The interior of most buildings and armor if you’re stuck outside will provide you with enough cover to stay alive. A direct hit from an arty barrage on a tank will take it out, but splash from shots around it usually will not. Garages are a good spot if you go to the back of them. Running, driving or flying away from the strike following the first hit to the ground also helps.

I see people stare and look at the sky while arty falls around the all the time. They end up dead. The smart ones begin to get the heck out of there and sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't.

Splash damage from arty is pretty strong and without cover, you’re going down. Jumping around in the middle of it will not save you. Trying to hide behind a little box out in the open when it hits won’t save you.

I find that about half the time it's just luck. I tend to snipe often, and sometimes I'll get a nice artillery shower on my head and I will be able to lie in my spot and not get a single scratch. Other times I'll be sprinting somewhere and the very first shell will land squarely on my head.

Believe it or not, you can actually hear the artillery coming. At night I'll play with headphones on so as not to wake up the rest of the house, and it's at this time that I can hear it best. If you hear that familiar sound of artillery falling, get the heck out of there. You might want to glance upwards just to be sure you're not running into the artillery rather than away from it though.

You can cap the Warehouse in Karkand without fear of an arty strike.

Its all avout luck and coordination. An artilarry strike is within a circle, each shell hits each section in the circle about 2 times, For example, if an arty shell hits on your left, its most likely to hit front, behind, or right of you.

                A.Run
                B. nowhere 2 run, run in circle
                C. Prone also helps a little
                D. Sit there and do nothing, most likely will occour in death.

In general, get to the thinnest stretch of available ground you can. Between one of the air conditioning vents and the edge of a rooftop, between a dumpster and a wall, in a narrow alleyway, anything. That minimizes the amount of ground area visible to you, and consequently, the odds of getting blown up.

Exactly. Think about when you play Commander - where do you like to strike Arty? Typically on large groups of enemies, or on enemies sitting on friendly flags that have no defenders.

So... If you're in a large squad attacking an undefended flag - you'd best keep your ears open. One thing I do is when that first strike hits, I run *past* the flag instead of retreating backwards. Their Commander is more likely to offset the strike in the direction your squad came from, than on the far side of the flag.

If caught in the open, I try to prone along the tallest building nearby or simply sprint away from the center (as best I can tell). When hiding inside, dont forget that your feet can stick through the walls - so splash damage out there can still kill you. Its best to crouch to make sure you're in. [Anybody else love knifing feet through walls? That cracks me up...]

If you survive the first hit without any damage, and you are right in the middle of it, try and run to where the first shell hit. I have found Artillery is a lot like lightning, it doesn't strike the same place twice. Doesn't work for me all the time, but since I have been doing it I don’t' get blown up as much.

Yah, pretty much just run or you're screwed. One thing I did notice is that Arty never hits in the same spot twice so if you can go to a spot where you saw arty hit before...its more likely you'll surive but splash damage can still kill you....Hey itws better than running around in circles.

Right on. I find Arty is very predictable, you just have to watch enough. I tend now to run right into and arty barrage because I know how many shells are going to fall, where they are going to land. You just get a feel.

As said earlier, if you get caught in the storm, you need to find something that will minimize it. Often, I will lay prone, butt up against the wall or behind some sandbags. This has saved my ass a lot. Get into a tight alley way, or in the corner/knook of a building.

Also, what was said earlier, listen...if you are close enough, and don't have a lot of chatter, you might hear it coming or hear the cannons firing. Always assume they are targetting you.
