Hi Ladies and Gnets, im new to BF2. I played Vietnam and Storm b4 and loved it and just bought and installed B2. I'd like to know if possible where to go from here? Should I install any updates, mods, maps? Any info would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!!!

it should promt you for the updates...and yes you need them, before you can play

As for mods, thats up to you...and there are no DL'able maps

Patch to 1.22. Operation Peace keeper is the first big total conversion mod out. No one plays unranked maps for vanilla BF2.

Just so you dont get confused like I did, "Vanilla" means you dont have any of the new packs for BF, like SF, and the like

Ok, when you say it should prompt me for the updates, it didnt, but i probably did not go to the right place. I went to the internet while in the game but it didnt.

it doesn't prompt you for updates, it just tells you when you have a different version from the server

I'd add, most other questions you have can be found by using the search function of this board or others. PLEASE! use the search function! It probably can answer 95% of your questions...

Also, there are many guides/FAQ's/tutorials posted throughout this board. It would be in your best interest to read them and become familiar with them.

1 last question, they say that in order to get version 2.12 u need to already have 2.1......Is that the current 1 or wud i have to download it?
