Awesome.. ill try that when i get home. Im not a computer geek sorta speak.. and i tried doing what the previous guy stated but it wouldnt allow me to edit the numbers. So i gave up and played the game instead.

Coming from years of playing CS.. if you used mouse accel.. you were an easy target. Get in close, move fast, and the guy would miss half the time.

When i play FPS games.. im very technical, and i play to win. Having mouse accel is the WORST thing to have while your aiming. "Specially when someone is running, or your swinging back and forth at multiple targets"

Thanks again... ill give it a try and report back how it is.

You can edit the settings by right clicking on the name of the value "SmoothMouseXCurve" and then selecing Modify. Don't try to click on the numbers, simply RIGHT click on the name and select Modify.

On my mouse settings there is a box "Enhance pointer precision" - I unchecked that and now acceleration appears to be off. Now I have to adjust to it in BF2... been playing almost a year with it on

I tried modifying the registry and nothing happened.. still have acceleration.
I tried downloading that BF2 registry fix... and its the same values... so nothing happened.
I tried checking my mouse options to be sure.. and it clearly states mouse acceleration off , and no acceleration in games.

Im at a loss... Ive tried it all so far. Only thing i havent tried is editing a config file for the game... but looked and couldnt see anything that i could have edited.

Is there a file in the BF folders that allows me to edit my config file. Maybe its there that i need to change something?

Just remember to find mouse settings that fit what you like, AND KEEP THEM!

write down what values you use, eg. how far you've got the slider in windows mouse settings, what you use in games.

Apparently, the burn-in time for you to get used to your mouse hand-eye coordination is around 100 hours. I practice it a lot, by just looking at something in BF2, and then trying to aim at it with one quick mouse movement. it's helped a great deal with 'reflex moves'

I'm using Logitech MX 518 mouse. Mouse contain build-in sensitivity control, so that u can use three diffrent settings just by pushing the button.

A bit off-topic but I've noticed that Logitech Set Point software that comes with the mouse is slowing the mouse down. I noticed this while practising TV missile shooting on single player. Switching from pilot seat to gunner seat goes swiftly by using keyboard but switching to TV missile targeting hud by right clicking the mouse, it takes very long time for some reason. Friend of mine give me a hint and I tried it. Appers to be true. Without the software switch is fast.

Re: Need help. How do i get rid of Mouse Accel?

My largest problem is not for overall aiming / moving / flying.. its for close quarter combat.

Without mouse accel.. i can tell that if i move my hand say 4 inches to the left or right.. my gun swings 90 degrees in both directions. Now.. the problem im having is when your playing a city map .. and mouse accel is "on".. im used to twitch firing or quick aiming in close combat from CS ( played cal level for 3-4 years ). I cant do that now cause if i slowly aim 4 inches left or right i get the perfect 90 degrees, but if a player jumps out and i need to quickly aim i end up over shooting the 90 degrees and end up doing like a 180. So.. someone jumps out.. and i end up flashing them my back. This equals instant death in this game.

Ive tried checking forums, google, and here.. and still havent found a way to turn it off.

I simply cant believe there are no major posts regarding this issue with other players. I use the logitech MX 500, and cant find ANYTHING regarding other players with problems with mouse acceleration.

I really hope i can find a fix. Ive tried everything everyone has suggested in this post.. and still no fix

Very interesting post i found in Planet Battlefield:

As some of you doubtless are aware of, BF2 under XP always sets mouse acceleration to 'enabled'...

I've just finished a 4 day interaction with EA Technical Support, and I've finally gotten to the point where they admit that you cannot switch mouse acceleration off in BF2.

For those that may not know what I'm talking about...

Mice have two settings under XP and in some mouse drivers:

                Sensitivity
                Acceleration

                To explain these, I'll digress..

Mice return a certain number of 'ticks' for a given amount of distance and a given amount of speed of movement.

Sensitivity allows you to scale the number of ticks for a given distance (say, 100 ticks/inch vs. 200 ticks/inch).

Acceleration allows you to scale the number of ticks based on how fast the mouse is moving (say, 100 ticks/inch when moving the mouse slowly, vs. 130 ticks/inch when the mouse is moving quickly).

Combined, these two settings give the user a lot of control over how the mouse acts.

As an FPS player, I like acceleration OFF, since no matter how quickly I move the mouse, I always want to turn exactly so much in a game for each inch of mouse travel. Over the last 8 years, I've honed my reactions to how my mouse is calibrated (about 4inches of travel = 180 degree turn in a game). In BF2 I noticed that mouse acceleration is always enabled, regardless of my mouse setting (disabled). My interactions with EA in the last 4 days have been an attempt to discover if there is a way to disable this that is non-User Interface related (since there is no way to do this in the control/settings screens).

Upshot: EA says there is no fix for this, and no one at EA has committed to fixing it (no surprise).

This is an FYI for all those with previous shooter experience that like mouse acceleration disabled.. if you are having problems hitting your target in close quarters when you are moving your mouse quickly, your not alone.

                For what its worth...
