    High Ping; Low Lag, WTF?!

Okay, so I constantly have high ping and low lag, probably cause I use SmartClose, but I still get high ping! What should I do?

I get pings of like 150 to, when it's a full and like 64 player server, 350 and when it spikes, 607.

when you scan for servers, do you click the ping column to ensure you are playing on the lowest ping servers available? as far as I know the server browser does not automatically arrange them that way

Well, it's just that most servers give me high ping, and I'd like to have lots of like 100 to 86 low ping on servers instead of 167 and getting kicked cause the retard admin thinks 150 is UNBELIEVABLY high.

Have you tried running with out smart close? Have you tried tracert'ing google? Can you give me about 5 pings to google so I can see your ping over time? Are you havign similar problems with other games like counter strike? or is it only BF2? How are your download speeds outside of BF2? Are you sharing the internet? Running peer to peer software?

Have you tried rebooting your modem and router? When I know it's not a software problem, I do that first, it usually sovlves most hardware problems. I need alot more info before I can help you. Btw. what company are you with? Telus? or Shaw?

The best way to do it is to just click on ping and go to a lower server...I know it probably wont help but if my cpu has been running for a few weeks i turn it off, reset my modem and turn the cpu back on...think it helps a little. As long as you dont have the lag I am not really sure what the problem is. If it was lag I would go to task manager and click on user or what ever and anything under owner you can normally close which may help with lag...
