EF .... purchase again ? ! ?

Good Day,
I've spent a few hours searching around this and other forums for this fix. Here is the problem.....
I am relocated to China for my job related issues and I do play BF2 when I have chance :) I decided to get EF but when I try to purchase, country = CHINA is not allowed to purchase......well....great business brain EA has for 1.5 BILLION people :P Anyway, I asked my friend in Canada (as I am a Canadian) to purchase it for me. I downloaded EAD and guess what? I doesn't connect. I called up my chinese ISP and asked them if they are blocking those ports....they answered "NO". So I called my friend in Canada to send me EF on a CD. After receiving it, I installed it, worked well during installation. But when I clicked a server or single player, it asks me to purchase again. The map list is there and I can see them. I have patched 1.22, did everything suggested on forums but NO go. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the country. I have only ONE BF2 ID . I have installed BF2, SF and EF couple of times, patched 1.22 ..... wasted half of my day trying to make this work but no luck. Is there any solution? Please share me if anyone know the solution as I failed to find one.

try this open up the EA Downloader program, click on the EF booster pack option and then at the top of the 'window' there is an option to EDIT YOUR GAMESPY NICK NAME.

Click on this link and you have to log into EA and then change your Gamespy Nickname to match your BF2 Account name.

Once you have done this launch BF2 and you should be able to play EF.

I mentioned on my post that I can't open EAD in China but I did use this "http://www.pogo.com/hotdeploy/eago/e...ackground.html" to edit my nickname. My GameSpy ID and BF2 ID matched as far I know but the game doesn't work.

it is tied to your nickname as the other person said. The person who downloaded it for you in Canada needs to change the nickname associated with the downloaded file. He has to get into the EAD and change the nick for you.

If he downloaded it for you, then he can change the nick for you.

You don't *have* to go into the EAD to do it, just log into www.ea.com and it'll work fine.

No, I wouldn't spend the $10 on it if I could go back in time. It's all armor maps- and most of my hours is as AT kit. And now it seems that AF will be for air whores so I won't be getting that either. I'll stick with vanilla city maps and SF. Ground is where the action is.

Call up the EA games help desk, if you are a big enough pain they will manually add it to your account.

I was away for a while but I did get a response from EA. Here is the whole part ...........

So, I guess I am out of luck? Is that cuz I am living in China? But I have seen chinese played this game but I can't ask them how they did that cuz I don't speak chinese :hmm: I have checked, rechecked, double checked my nick but it's "MarkPuppets" as it suppose to be........any other ideas?

I would follow the advice given to you in that support E-Mail. I've dealt with EA Support before, and they were able to help me out.
