Welcome to the world of BF2, it runs like a dog.
I suspect your CPU might be a bottleneck, and theres not much you can do about that.

If it helps you to help me with the power supply, everytime I boot up, Nvidia gives me a warning that my power supply is too low to support the 6600gt and that it is setting the gpu configuration to low performance. So, could this be the reason why, besides the possible cpu bottlenecking, that I'm having lag?

Btw, is there any way to help prevent so much cpu bottlenecking? Overclocking or something?

You should have probably mentioned that before =P. That would most likely be the problem. To confirm it you should check your graphics cards clock speed against what the specification says it should be. It is most likely your card is underclocking itself due to lack of power. If that is the case your only option really is to buy a PSU or rethink your gprahics options.

I was just looking at my GPU specs and etc on PCWizard and under GPU configuration it says "ForceWare Version : 6.14.10.8421" Why does it say this is the version? I DLed and installed this one:

ForceWare Release 80
Version: 84.21
Release Date: March 17, 2006

when I got the card. Is my card not recognizing the new drivers? Or what?

Edit: I think I see. Is the 8421 in the forceware version referring to the 84.21 in the ForceWare Release 80?

Btw, how would I check to see my gpus clock speed?

I haven't owned an Nvidia card in a while but if you download a program called "Coolbits" (use google) I believe it will tell you your current clock speeds. Be aware that the card probably would run at different speeds anyway based on whether it is doing 2d or 3d applications. You may have to "trick" it into going into 3d mode to see what clock speeds it is actually running. You might do this by running a game in windowed mode to keep an eye on it, or maybe coolbits even will keep a record of clocks for you. I am not sure because I have never used it, but I think that is what I would try in your place.

What a ****in ripoff. You can get a Powerstream 520W for that price. You shouldn't have to spend over $60 for a good 400W. If you have to, buy a psu and mod your old connectors to the new one. Oh yeah, don't ever buy a dell again.

I hate it and I wasnt the one that bought it. We bought it like 5 years ago when i was too young to know much about computers.

I plan to buy a $2000 gaming computer in like 2-3 years so im trying to make this one last. Any good places you suggest buying from? I can probably build one myself but I find it easier to just customize it on a website. So far I've looked into ibuypower and cyberpowerinc. If i really wanted to go cheap and build, I will probably buy from newegg. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know a good amount on the proprietary Dell psu connections? I know that it uses a 20 plug (or whatever, I forgot the term :hmm: ) connector to the mobo. I dont know much about the IDE connections to harddrives and etc. Oh and my 6600gt doesn't need a psu connection just so you know.

Are you sure, I was under the impression all AGP 6600gt needed a 4 pin hard drive power supply.

Nope, it doesnt need any connection. I installed it this week and I didnt plug anything into it. I just popped it in and I was done.

It needs a 4 pin power hard drive power connector, its the black thing at the top between the capacitors.

Yea thats the one but I dont remember seeing a place to plug a connector in :o How would plugging the 4 pin cord into the gpu help? Would this increase the performance at all by directly supplying power? Plus, I dont know whether i have a 4 pin cord to attach to it

I'll look at the PSU that im pretty much forced into buying that i mentioned earlier and see if it has the 4 pin connector.

Edit: I couldnt find whether it had a 4 pin connector or not. If anyone can give me help on this, itd be greatly appreciated.

Just open your case and look at it. I am certain it needs an additional power lead. It is not a case of a perfomance boost so much as it being NECESSARY to plug that cable in. Frankly I am amazed that it is working at all. If your PSU does not have a spare lead it is possible to find a splitter cable that will split power from whatever cable you do have. If you are unsure it should be the exact same connector that plugs into any IDE hard drive or optical drive. It has four pins.
I believe that this is what you are looking for if you do not have a spare connector:

I have a pretty old CD-RW drive that I never use due to having an MP3 player now. Should i just unplug the 4 plug connector cable from that and put it on the video card?

Bear with me as I try to explain this. Your psu will have more than one 4 pin molex cable. It will probably have 2 cables from the PSU, which may then get split up to power the components on your PC. An important thing to remember is to keep your GFX on a different overall cable to any optical drive, if you can help it. This is because an optical will require varying amounts of power at dfferent times.
So in conclusion you can unplug your CDRW and use that cable if you like, but be aware of what else is being powered from it.
