Hey, I finally bought the Asus 6600GT and I must say it's great. The only problem is when I run bf2, it still feels VERY choppy and laggy even on 1024x768 85 hertz with all low settings. These are my system specs:
Dell Dimension 4550, everything default except for video card and memory
1 Gig RAM
Asus 6600GT 128 MB
Intel Pent 4 2.4 ghz
250w Power Supply
I HAVE searched the forums for problems with the 6600GT and tweaks. I've tried deleting the cache file, disabling the intro movies, defragging, permanently removing deleted files (as in, after deleting them from Recycle Bin), closing all background tasks, disabling all programs on startup, compacting/cleaning the registry, other registry speed tweaks, and cleaning all the adware/viruses off of my computer. (And yes, I have vert sync off and I have my video card driver updated)
Why is BF2 running so slow for me? I can run CS:S on all high with HDR and at 1024x768. I know my power supply is pretty low to handle the 6600gt so I need to upgrade sooner or later. Will this upgrade help reach the full potential of my 6600gt so I can run on medium settings?
Also, since I have a Dell, the mobo only can connect with certain PSUs. I was suggested this one: http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...php?show=S41D2
awhile ago, however, if i dont have to spend $120 on a power supply, thatd be great. Can you recommend any power supplies that would fit and work with my Dimension 4550?
Edit: Just wanted to add that in CS I get around 60 FPS on those settings I mentioned and in BF2, I dont know the number, however it feels like I get 15-20 T_T

I hate it and I wasnt the one that bought it. We bought it like 5 years ago when i was too young to know much about computers.
