  • Gamespy or no Gamespy?

Without trying to sound to ignorant, I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on gamespy were. I do not use it. I have always used the the built in server tracker/filter? What are the benefits of using it ??

I don't think there are any benifits as such though it probably works better than the internal browser but not as good as ASE (imho)

      Just say No to gamespy.

Xfire does the same without all the bs, and there are plent of other ways.

ASE is good if you game alone or have few buddies online.
xFire is good if you are in a clan or have lots of buddies online.

          No Gamespy for me!

I get over 1500 servers from the in game browser and that's plenty for me.

Agree. My friends and I use XFire and Teamspeak (haven't used the VOIP over XFire yet...).

Just look at how well the ingame server browser works in BF2.

                    Any questions?

*note to EA/DICE* For the love of God, please dump gamespy for the server browser on ALL future games. Amen.

The back end of GameSpy's server browser is crap and should have been dumped before it ever made it into BF42 (or any other game for that matter), much less let the cr*p be adopted into their next two titles. The user interface for it is sh*t also.

Well, I get over 5500 browsers from in game server, most of them in fecking Japan or Canada or somewhere. I use Gamepsy, it gives me over 700 British servers to choose from.

Well thats fair enough, but programs like 'The All Seeing Eye' do that as well and much more, without giving you any spyware as a nice little present for installing it! Oh and so does x-fire if i remember correctly (i seem to remember it showing the flag of the country the server was in).

Gamespy is utter garbage. Don't get it whatever you do. The current bf2 one is bad enough.
