This is both distressing and immensely uplifting.

Distressing because full-fledged production houses like DICE can't seem to get their fingers on the pulse of the gaming community (hey, that's not my pulse!).

Uplifting because it takes a mod team (*cough*DesertCombat*cough*) to make a good game great.
