When i chose my second unlock (first was m95), the l96 wasnt on the list of unlocks. The guys in my clan say that i should be able to get it because it was in the patch, but it wasnt there. Do you have to attain a certain rank i.e. sargent first? Or do you need to buy SF/EF?
Its worth mentioning that you also have to play atleast one round on SF to get the unlocks. I think alot of people get SF for the unlocks and then never play it. Then they can not figure out why they don't have 2 unlocks per rank.

you don't have to play a whole round - just join a server. to be safe, i always get a point or 2 from a kill or a revive and then quit.
I do it for my freinds who don't have SF. They change their PW to a temp one, i log in and kill someone (or die) on SF, and EA thinks they bought it.
damn, i really want that gun, but im not blowing the money for special forces, and i dont have any mates with special forces... o well, good ol m24 and m95 for me..
I unlocked the M95 and played vanilla BF patiently, hoping to get the L96 before I got arthritis. Got 3-4 unlocks on the vanilla BF and one day decided to play a round of SF. Dusted off SF (I owned it for two months before "really" playing it) and after the first round, the game gave me retroactive unlocks up to the rank I achieved in vanilla. So, in one day, I got 4 unlocks, including the L96 and my beloved F2000 (that I now use in vanilla BF2 with great satisfaction ) Freakin' Christmas in April. Get SF, play, unlock.
