Really weird, I was playing Insurgents on Warlord, and as usually I rush from the TV station to mine the main alley so that the tanks couldn't drive through so easily, after the mines were placed I went behind a corner to fill any infantry that showed up with shotgun shells, when suddently I saw a AIL Raider driving up the hill full speed "Easy kill" I thought but then he just drove right over them, detonating them all without taking any damage, just clearing the mines and driving forward! Anyone seen this before?

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
i've seen is happen b4, but later, it said ( you killed ....) but said killed up in the left corner instead of AT mine even tho i hadn't died, and it wasn't long after he drove over, so it could be a glitch, but i do kno that ATVs don't detonate mines for some unknown reason

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
Plus, isn't there a 10 second delay on mines? By the time I spawn, run out to the street and throw my mines, the raiders and quad-bikes are already coming up the ramp. Maybe easer to spawn further north and mine there.

i'm not sure if there is a certain timeset, delay, but as he said, it was that they did blow up w/o killing the raider that astonished him

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
I do not know the cause, but I've seen this exact issue in Vanilla BF2 different times with different vehicles. It's very strange to say the least. I've run over enemy mines that detonate and only slightly damage my vehicle when it should obviously be an instant kill. I guess the only good part about it all is that I've only experienced it firsthand maybe once every 50-100 hours of gameplay.Originally posted by PBAsydney...he just drove right over them, detonating them all without taking any damage, just clearing the mines and driving forward!
Edit: By the way, there definitely is an arming delay for mines and claymores. Not that it is the cause of this or anything; just confirming the discussion above.

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
I seen this happen to me this morning. I had the ramp on Warlord mined with two rows of mines spread out. A tank came crawling up and exploded. Then, about 10 seconds later, two raiders came ripping past a few seconds apart. The first raider had 3 players in it and when it ran over a mine, there was an explosion and I got credit for 2 kills and the driver sped off with the raider like nothing had happened. The second raider had 2 players and it blew up completely.

Everytime i hit one it always blows up, so maybe it is a serverside glitch

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
Last night on a ghosttown map, an apponent drove a FAV right into my mines, jumped at the last moment, surviving (until I filled him full of holes with my MP7).
I don't think this is the same phenom you are discussing but something to keep in mind, nonetheless

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
There maybe something to this. I've placed mines as a last ditch suicide and they haven't gone off. I know, my back was to the wall and I could do nothing else.Originally posted by [ak]NutsPlus, isn't there a 10 second delay on mines? .
Edit- Have you been in a tank, seen the mine, stopped and seen it infront of you and have had it explode? I hate that.

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
I could swear there is a time lag on AT mine detonating. If the AIL is driving fast enough, it doesn't seem to set them off. I've found is better to lay mines around a turn in the road. The enemy is more likely to slow down and give you the point.

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
I just wish the mines in BF2 worked like they did in BF:1942/DC. Running up, chucking a mine up on the turret of a tank and then WAMMO! The concussion from his main weapon firing would detonate the mine. Now it's pretty tough to mine a stationary tank.
Good theory about the timing thing though. Maybe the ATL Raider is too fast? The mine registers the activity and by the time it detonates, the Radier is gone? Need to test this out.

I don't think so, the FAV is just as fast and ive gone over at mines at max speed and die every time in fav...Maybe the ATL Raider is too fast? The mine registers the activity and by the time it detonates, the Radier is gone? Need to test this out.

Re: AIL Raider immune to landmines?
Today I saw a FAV run over a land mine and didn't even start smoking. Absorbed the explosion. I also hit it with a RPG and it didn't blow up or catch fire, until it crashed into an Abrams
