Disregard the previous bullsh!it that was said. As of May 2nd, there are exactly 1,045,437 players world wide, so well over a million so far.

I'm sure the real number of active players isn't even half as much... I'd think a few hundred thousand probably... but that's just a shot in the dark.

Would it hurt EA's stock if they released the figures for average active CD keys per week? I know they are tracking them for metrics. It would be cool to know what the uses of the game are in the US, EU, Asia....

I would put it at maybe 300k active world wide.

That's the number of active accounts. I don't know how many cd's were sold, but for me personally creating multiple accounts doesn't make any sense. There are some people that create multiple accounts for whatever reason, but keep in mind that there are also multiple family members that have their own accounts, even though they are using the same CD. That still counts as so many different players.

I looked in my notes and even though I cant tell you where I got the Info I can tell you its probably close.
There have been over 2 million coppies of BF2 sold and there are over 700 thousand registered accounts with 100 points or more.
You have to remember some people dont have broadband access and only play single player. While others find the game to hard (A guy at the computer store told me that it was way to hard). I believe I got the 2 million number from one of EAs sites and the 700 thousand number came from BF2s, If I remember right.. . . . . . .Red

EA made an official announcement when BF2 sold 1 million and 1.5 million copies. I didn't see any for 2 million though it wouldn't surprise me.

Also there was a community update some months ago that said over 1 million BF2 copies sold and the highest peak player count (at one time) was ~40,000 ( ithink, search the EA community updates to verify)

Gamespy stats reporting as of 05-03-06 / 09:30AM EST - 7098 servers, 17057 players active. And yes Teaves, I think you are right on the money with the "highest peak player count (at one time) was ~40,000"

Look at the counts for Half Life - 35402 servers, 74245 players! LOL

Here is a good stat: on a Sunday shortly after Christmas BF2 had them most simultaneous players at one time of just over 50,000. More than any other BF game ever. That impressed me...
