    Are BF2 graphix worth it???

I hav been playing BF2 for a while now and I always imagine to myself what playing it with the graphics on high would be like and still get good performance. So Ive been thinking, should I go and buy a bunch of new stuff for my computer such as RAM, a new video card, etc. so I can just play bf2 on all high settings? I mean would it be worth it??

First thing - get ram, so the game/maps loads faster. After that, worry about grahical performance.

Make sure you have 2 gigs of ram, first.

How about telling us your current specs so we can tell you if it's worth upgrading...

When I get a new decent PC and go on all Highs - it will be like playing a new game for me! :) I've seen what it looks like on high settings and wow awsome!

At the moment I'm on all Low/off hehe

Just keep in mind that new graphics cards, Intels Conroe chip, Windows Vista and Direct X 10 are all coming out over the next year.

Are you planning on getting married, having a kid or doing anything else that would end your gaming life? If not I would say that an upgrade is always worth it because if you don't need it for this round of games, you will probably need it for the next. I mean, what do you think the specs on BF2142 are going to be?

i just recently got my new laptop and i now play everything maxed out. I used to be a low-medium settings player and let me tell you, it's worth it.

bf2 is very beautiful on all high settings. If your really into good graphics id say go for upgrade. If not then dont. You should know if you want to or not.

Just keep in mind something is ALWAYS coming out "over the next year." :/

Depends on what you play at now. If you play at medium and 1024 or above, it probably won't be worth it. The differences between medium and high are pretty minor overall. Yeah, if you get side-by-side comparison pics at the two settings you will see differences, but two different gaming sessions you probably would never notice it.

If the above guide doesn't have it all, it's pretty close. Probably overkill lol. What I run at and what I recommend anyone run at is:

Terrain: Medium (lil diffs tween high)
Effects: High (heavy combat impact, explosions, smoke, dust, etc, but looks hawt like this)
Geometry: High (possible detection of vehicles/things earlier)
Texture: Medium (lil diffs tween high)
Lighting: Medium (lil diffs tween high)
Dynamic Shadows: Medium (heavy combat impact, lil diffs tween high)
Dynamic Light: Medium (big contributor to jerkiness, lil diffs tween high)
Antialiasing: 2x (I hate jagged lines)
Texture Filtering: Medium (2xAF equiv, better distance detail)
View Distance Scale: 100% (you can see more enemies)

Resolution is at least 1024x768 or higher as your card can handle it. But even resolutions aren't a big deal unless you've got a 24" monitor or something... but if you've got the typical 17-19" crt or lcd, then 1024 is typically fine. 1280 usually slightly more preferred.

I have played on all medium systems (mine) and all high ( a buddies) and I honestly didnt notice THAT MUCH of a difference. The difference between going from Low to medium is much larger in my opinion.

No, probably not. But Direct X 10 and Vista will be the basis for the next generation of games. I want an upgrade now and I need one badly but I might wait and save money until the times right, or at least better.
