    Final unlock - any tips?

I'm now getting very close to the 20,000 score point limit and the Master Sergeant rank. At that rank, I get two new unlocks. Since I probably never will manage to get the final two unlocks at 50,000 points, these unlocks will be my last ones. I have already decided on unlocking the sniper rifle L96 (thanks to a lot of recommendations).

The last unlock will be one of the three remaining: MG36 (support), MP-7 (engineer) or P90 (anti-tank).

The MG36 seems like a good choice. www.bf2s.com says that it is more precice than the PKM, but lacks some of the power.

The MP-7 lacks almost everything. Its has a small magazine, and almost no firepower at all. Compared to the jackhammer, it seems like it has nothing to offer.

Many people I've met praises the P90. But I haven't tried it, unfortunately. I'm already very happy with the DAO shotgun, but as i said, I dont know very much about the P90.

Does anyone have any recommendations, or personal experiences/opinion about these weapons? Thanks for any help.

Well i would say to get the P90 for sure because it fires kevlar peircing bullets which are good agenst all enemys and it has a lazer aimpoint sight, Also unlock the l96a2 if u dont have it, the MG36 is lethal at close range and its ok with the 3 round burst and medium, as for the mp-7 before the 1.22 patch i would have said yes all the way because it had a 20 round clip but on small maps it packed serious stopping power but now since the patch its clip is increased to 40 rounds but is about 1/8 as powerful(it would seem) as it was before the patch so dont get it

I don't think the P90 in BF2 pierces kevlar, in any case- it does about less damage than the pistol (6 shots to kill against units with body-armour, 5 shots to kill against units without). To tell the truth, I don't recommend it- even with the red-dot scope, it's totally pointless, EA and DICE made it so that this gun was only meant for close-range to close-medium range combat only- if I can't snipe with it, I'm not happy.

I like the MP7, it's just great to spray things with; and it appears more stable than the P90. However, for any of the Engineer or AT unlocks- don't unlock them unless you're dedicated to those kits. But yes, it seems that it now deals a similar amount of damage as the P90, perhaps a little more- but perhaps a better side-arm for the Engineer than the Jackhammer.

MG36 is actually a pretty decent gun, performs the support role the best for it's fire-rate, but it doesn't necessarily kill half as much as a hit from the PKM, I would agree that it's a gun mostly for medium-range combat and suppressing, and even if on 3 shot burst- it has trouble shooting straight at long distances.

All the guns that SnowControl listed... well- I don't really like any of them much, because I can't use them at long-range. I'd still say, your best bet would probably be the MP7 or the MG36

Well, I pretty much got all the guns i need, besides the L96. Still, i gotta use the last unlock for something, although i dont need it. The MG36 seems like a good choice, although i probably dont need it. I could do with a new antitank gun, something that can shoot longer than the DAOs three meter range. Since there's no grenades for this kit, I really need a medium range gun.

Well, in that case- if you like sniping, go get yourself the L96.
But, if you really want something that goes further than the DAO-12, I suppose the P90 would be it, other than that, just stick to the pistol for AT.
I should note that the P90 has an impressive fire rate, however, I hate it's accuracy and it's lack of effectiveness. It's more or less meant to be a medium-range spray-burst weapon, but I've yet to see this gun used effectively this way.

By my own preference, I'd have preferred picking the MP7 over the P90, because it supplements the engineer kit better than the jackhammer, and kinda goes well with the AT mines and his repairing capacity.

            Thanks Six.

I'm leaning towards the MP-7 now, after you description. :) As i said in my first post, I will definetly unlock the L96. Loads of guys in my clan say the accuracy is incredible, especially compared to the M95.

In any case, just pick a gun for the kit you're more dedicated to or like more - that would possibly be the safest option, that way you don't come back to me telling me how much the gun I told you about sucks :p

From my experience, go for the MG36, its a rewarding type gun, nothing too special, almost similar to the G36 range, (Good if you play these kits) and rather accurate aswell, I love it. I hate the P90, in close situations I have never won a battle with it unless the guy ran out of his mag, I'd rather the DAO in any case. The MP7 is a fun gun, it's rate of fire is what makes it decent, you'll manage to cap off a few if your accurate enough but as a purpose gun, no, not really.

                  I'd say go the MG.

The G36 weapons (E, C and isn't there one more?) are all brilliant guns. If the MG has similar abilities, I would love it. Of course its a much larger gun, with a proper belt fed intake, but still.

                    MG36 http://wiki.bf2s.com/weapons/unlocks/mg36
                    Magazine Capacity 100
                    Extra magazines 5
                    Damage 30
Rate of Fire (Rounds per Minute) 600
                    Fire Modes Burst / Auto
                    Deviation Standing / Crouching / Prone 3/1.2/0.8
                    Recoil 0.25 - 0.45
Shots to Kill Non Armor 4
                    Shots to Kill Armor 5

                    PKM http://wiki.bf2s.com/weapons/unlocks/pkm
                    Magazine Capacity 100
                    Extra magazines 5
                    Damage 45
Rate of Fire (Rounds per Minute) 450
                    Fire Modes Auto
                    Deviation Standing / Crouching / Prone 3/1.2/0.8
                    Recoil 0.25 - 0.45
Shots to Kill Non Armor 3
                    Shots to Kill Armor 4

The recoil is actually just the same, only difference is the rate of fire and damage per shot.

I would say take the mp7. The p90 is an awful gun, the standard smgs are better! The mg36 is a nice gun, but its not necessarily better that any of the other machine guns. The mp7 isn't great, but it gives engineer a totally different kind of weapon that can be useful in situations where the shotguns are worthless.

Re: Final unlock - any tips?

Just did some fast calculation as well. I'm currently in a VERY boring german lesson :P.

The P90 fires 15 shots per second (900 p/m). It takes 6 shots kill a non-armour player. It therefore take 0,6 seconds to kill a person if all shots go to the chest (!).

MP-7 also fires 15 shots per second. It takes 6 shots to kill, or 0,6 seconds. Just the same as the P90.

The MG36 fires 10 shots per second (600 p/m), and uses 4 hits to kill. That makes 0,4 seconds to kill a person, which is the fastest of the three weapons.

All this require that all the shots hits the chest, which they rarely do. Accuracy also comes in, and i havent looked at that here. But the MG36 is definetly the most powerful weapon here (no shock there actually).

Seems like u guys are split between the two options MP-7 and MG36. They are two completely different guns, so its kinda hard putting them up against each other. Still, the pkm does a lot of what the MG36 would do just fine, while i got no (sub)machinegun for the support class.

One down, two more to pick between....

I'd go with the mp-7, it gives engineers a much better chance in medium range combat, and in CQC it's high RoF can be devastating too.
