The spinning mouse..what gives.

Recnetly Ive encountered this pain in the a$$ problem...
every now and then out of no were Ill start looking up and spinning or looking down, Ive even took my hand off my mouse and spinning still happens.
Now Im using a basic 25 dollar optical, no mouse pad..just my desk top.

Ive heard this might be because my desk top has some white in the wood and the white confuses the beam?
Anyone else have this probelm or have suggestions?

my friend has the same problem. He has a cheap general electric mouse and when he looks all the way down or up sometimes it just does a twirl. I have NO idea what would cause this! Maybe try a darker surface, but I doubt that would work.

happens to me about once a week, but dont know why and its not a problem.

It gives anyone who sees it a laugh cos they say its like a ballerina doing a twirl in combats lmao

It depends on the surface you are using. If I put a slippery magazine under my Razer it does the same thing, so try different surfaces.

I have had this problem since day 1 and i have a £70 gameing mouse and i have it on a gameing optical mouse matt which cost £40 so it has nothing to od with cheap gear:laugh:

It is annoying but i have got used to it now:cry:

this normally happens with joysticks being plugged in at the same time, but never had that prioblem myself. On surfaces - i use a persian rug from my daughters doll house lol works abso-fecking-brilliantly

I've encountered this problem before... in my case it was because I'd managed to wear the texture right of my desk. This caused blankspots that the mouse just couldn't read.

Try changing your mousepad or using a different surface.
Also, flip the sucker over and make sure there's no dust, hair, or lint stuck over the optics. Er, don't looks straight into the light. It hurts.

Apparently, it has nothing to do with mousepads and more with what connection your mouse is using. I have this same problem and it's been annoying me for about a year now. I did a bit of research on it and it appears that only USB mice have this problem. If you use your little adapter to plug it into the PS/2 port, all should be well. It really sucks when this happens in the middle of CS and people think you have an aimbot. I've already been kicked a couple times for this crap. Does your mouse cursor randomly move to other parts of the screen on your desktop as well? It appears to happen mostly when you are idle (ie sniping, camping, typing, etc) and you come back to use your mouse.

It has nothing to do with the surface being slippery, it has to do with the surface being reflective. if the surface is reflective the sensor in the mouse is overwhelmed and causes it to freak out. I would be happy to give a moer technical answer than "freak out" if you wish, but it gets the point across. Try a matte, well patterned surface and the problem will likely go away.

I suggest in this case that he abandon his electric mouse and go back to his gas powered mouse to solve the problem.

I have an optical mouse I use with my laptop at my desk. I use a mousepad but while I play BF2 I knock it off the side so I have more room for my PC mouse. When it lands in just the right spot on the wood desk, the cursor goes up and left constantly. Weirds me out when I go to use the trackpoint and the cursor refuses to leave the upper left corner. Try using a real mousing surface.

This used to happen to me with my joystick/control pad with separate thrust control. Unless the control was dead center, the mouse would spin...
