    HMMV w/ TOW is useless

Anyone who has used the ground based TOW in BF2 knows it's a hell of an AT weapon - 1 shot to the treads will destroy a tank, and it also sends perfect health APCs/mobile AAs on fire. So it basically has twice the damage of your normal AT kit ERYX/SRAW rockets.

Well then, I have to wonder what genius at Dice decided to *HALVE* the damage on the HMMV (hummer) mounted TOW - it makes it utterly useless as an offensive/defensive AT wehicle. It requires two shots (more for a tank if you don't hit the treads) to down armor. What sane reason does Dice have regarding how the same weapon, just using a mobile mounting system, suddenly has it's damage reduced by half?

Due to this imbalance 1 v 1 versus a tank/APC/mobile AA you will lose every time. You actually have a better chance of success if you played as AT - your profile is smaller and you can actually take cover and reposition yourself.

In the time it takes to fire off two missiles from the HMMV mounted TOW, you would've been long destroyed by any competent armor user.

Dice should give the HMMV mounted TOW the same damage as the ground based TOW to give it a chance to do it's intended job - destroy armor.

As it is, it's only real use in game is for transport, the only 'armor' the HMMV mounted TOW can take out in one shot is a friggin buggy. Great huh?

The tow is also hard to aim on the move at night. I only use it for transport with a bit extra protection because compared to the ATV or the Raider you cant get shot out as easily.

Oh my! You've been missing out!

There are things called "squads" in bf2! You can also do "squads" in SF!

Good "squads" are very effective, and with a loadout of (a possible) 6 kits, any good "squad" (that doesn't want to be mauled by armor) is going to include an AT.

So, that was the intro lesson; here is your solution:

You and your "squadmates" can load up in the TOW HMMV and when you encounter a tank/armor, the driver shouts "GET OUT!" The AT's in your squad light up the tank, with the TOW from the HMMV providing backup.

            Hope that helps!

Next lesson: two "squads" traveling "together" and doing "teamworky" stuffz.

            :p

Wow, you must think you are the biggest smartass in the whole wide world? You want a cookie for that brilliant 'introduction' to the squad system?

FYI I spend just as much time being SL as I am SM, so I'm very familiar with the squad system thank you very much.

Why must people think they are so funny coming up with totally irrelevant smartass posts? Stick to the godamn topic.

This thread has NOTHING at all to do with squads, it's to do with the stupid decision to halve the damage on the TOW, rendering the HMMV useless when matched against armor. It's a ridiculous oversight on Dice's behalf, and should be fixed in the next patch.

I was looking forward to using the mobile TOW, with the ability to put a strong AT weapon in a sensible place for defence (all the fixed ones are in silly places). But i also quickly realised that you may as well just play as the AT soldier, in the hummer your just a big fat AT guy who has the chance to get his team mates in the vehicle killed.
Very dissapointed with something I expected to use a lot.

Well if you're fighting solo, you'll need to fire the vehicle TOW, and hop out and then hope to finish it off with your AT kit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt the TOW HMMV have only 2 (or was it 3) seats? So how do you "load up a HMMV" with squadmates? There are SIX, 6! players in a squad. Oh, and I use the TOW HMMV as a hit & run kind of thing. Find tank, hit, run. Find tank again. Fire. Kill. It can be used as a super AA for hovering choppers too...

That was the advanced lesson, to wit:

"Next lesson: two "squads" traveling "together" and doing "teamworky" stuffz."

Also, I park it under glaring light, obscuring it when tank drivers, (NVG's on) come around a corner.
