Chopper settings.

Hi all,

after ground pounding for nearly 12000 points i thought it was time to play with the choopers and planes.

The chopper is what's getting me.

Could all pro chopper fliers please post what settings you have for your air controls. Sensitivity. ETC.

I am using mouse and keyboard as that's all i have.

Hello. This is something you have to test out in an emtpy server. Since youre starting up, go check "HINTS AND TIPS" subforum for "Helicopter Tutorials" and use the SEARCH key to find ****load of info on helos.

Basically start up a singleplayer map - I suggest Kubra Dam and just do tricks. When you don't lose control anymore increase your sensitivity and Pitch/Yaw factor until you do. Repeat.

when i fly a chopper..i use a keyboard instead of joystick (i feel like i get more control with a keyboard) second...to hover u dont need any throttle at all..so when im attacking a base i tend to drop my throttle and whenever i need evasive manuevers to dodge something or just get out...hold down W/throttle and ur chopepr will zoom upwards

You need like 35-45% throttle (the bar on the left) to keep a hover... if you don't press anything you will slowly fall. You will fall slow, but its not a hover.

First of all, use keyboard and mouse.

Second, adjust the sensitivity according to your hardware and playing surface: you want the ability to fly the chopper making the smallest movement possible with your mouse. Mine are 7, 10, 10.

As for controls ? Get rid of "E" as your Enter/Exit key: after you get booted from your own chopper for typing 'hey, look over there' (e's can trigger your exit accidentally) too often, you'll warm up to this idea.

I use spacebar as my mouselook key (it's important that you learn to look around when flying: avoid nasty surprises and get a better view of the field to line yourself or your gunner up), my middle mouse button as the rear view and "E" as the cockpit toggle.

Mouse and Keyboard is the best for helos... But as said before, get in a single player map and just practice. A good challenge for beginners is flying the heli through the whole in kubra damn. It's easy but its good practice. Try hovering in it and everything.

As far as specs go, i think I use 8.7 sensitivy and I forget what my YAW is, like 6 or something

single player dragon valley, it will give you enemies to shoot at. only thing is that the enemy chopper rarely engages you

adjust the sensitivity according to your hardware and playing surface: you want the ability to fly the chopper making the smallest movement possible with your mouse. Mine are 7, 10, 10.

Since I'm naturally kinda *twitchy* (my reflexes tend to be faster than my motorcontrol) I don't like ramping up my roll sensitivity too much. My pitch, on the other hand, that I crank up.

As a point of interest, a friend of mine remapped his yaw control to the mouse and put roll on the keyboard. He finds it a more natural configuration for him and it lets him target his rockets better. I couldn't deal with it, even after some practice, but he does really well that way.

My sensitivity is default, but I use joystick. You should probably use the same sensitivity that you use for infantry combat since you are using mouse and keyboard.

Yeah, if you plan on using joystick the sensitivity does nothing.

10's across the board, the faster the better, and using a highend mouse helps also. the advice to increase a lil at a time is a good idea. joysticks are much more sensitive when considering chopper flight. they can spin a chopper around quicker than a mouse can, but at a loss of stability.

Agreed, you lose a little bit of stability but gain a lot of control.

Adjust roll good- higher roll make better for helo face-off; good for dodging enemy TV missile, and also good for barrel-rolling to level with enemy armour on ground to line up for TV missile shot or missile barrage.

Good and high sensitivity can help out-maneuver enemy air-assets.
