between dogfighting in bf1942 and bf2? Basically the tactics have not changed at all. Come in flying straight or level or on dive bombing runs flying back over the airfield to get ammo, and then flying up behind an enemy and trying to shoot him down (no missiles in bf1942, but dogfighting is still similar, the everlasting twisting and turning except with j10s) There are choppers, but that doesnt add much. Bombers have not evolved alot besides the laser guided missiles, they are still sluggish to fly but have firepower. Anyone like the flying in bf1942 better? This isn't a hate thread or complaint, just seeing everyones opinion. Btw, post ur favourite flying map from bf1942 if u played it too. Mine is battle of britain by far, amazing map, all oriented around flying.
anyone notice the similarities...

Re: anyone notice the similarities...
I actually been flying around in BF42 again, the dogfights were/are just fun in that game and the flak cannons are just plain old nasty. I pretty much like flying in any of the BF (DC also) games though, pretty much all I ever did.Originally posted by 22viPer22between dogfighting in bf1942 and bf2? Re: anyone notice the similarities...
I loved BoB (Battle of Britain). I was a damned good pilot there. I gave up trying to fly in BF2. The maps are just too small for my liking and you race across them too quickly.
Generally speaking I don't have as much fun playing BF2 as I did BF1942, however I find it really annoying to go back to BF1942 without some of the features of BF2. That is the rub....Comment

Of course there are gonna be similarities in tactics and gameplay between dogfighting in 1942 and bf2. You're flying planes and killing people in an arcade-ish simulation of warfare. What you are saying is like complaining about BF2 being too much like previous FPS games: "Come in straight through the front door behind an enemy and shoot him in the back" (a typical nub). BF2 and 1942 (never played it btw) certainly aren't flight simulators but they simulate enough to where you can use timeless real world tactics. What else were you expecting, Star Wars?Originally posted by 22viPer22between dogfighting in bf1942 and bf2? Basically the tactics have not changed at all.
