  • for those of you contemplating buying sf

hey all just want to report that i bought sf yesterday and installed everything....played for about 6 hours and am now half asleep at work...

if you re thinking of getting sf i highly recommend it!

it is a great change from vanilla bf2 and the night maps are an especially good change.

also with the zip line and climbing rope there are sooo many posibilities to where you can go and how fast you can get there....basically you can get to any point on the map at any height

lastly the new weapons are teh bomb! there is also a decent amount of armor but i have found that they do not overpower any of the maps

ive played all but 2 of the new maps and each one is interesting in its own way....there is a much greater height scale to a lot of the maps as compared to vanilla bf

also a lot of people are saying they have stuttering but i have a decent machine (not great by any means) and i have not seen any stuttering...

    amd 3200
    2 gig corsair ddr400 (4 x 512 dimms)
    xfx 7800gt
    seagate barricuda 160 gb
asus sli premium (and I only use onboard sound!!!)

also the install i did was really clean...
    i uninstalled everything first
    installed bf2 off dvd
    installed sf of cd
dl the full 386 (sumthing)mb patch
    installed patch

    cleared the page file
    defragged and restarted
page file is now 2048 gb

also my setting are medium to high for everything no lows and the game looks great!!!

    hope this helps someone!

okay well i guess i was wrong about my specs though....

anyways i built it myself pretty cheap so maybe that helps??

you could prolly build it for round 800-850

bagels are good mr leemus but i like toasted bagels with cream cheese better!

^^ agreed. the grapple and zip are really fun, especially when a squad works as a team.

sweet! gluck i hope you enjoy!

just a suggestion! if you dont like the maps so much try using the sniper class with the zip line...and then zip to places all over the map! its a great tool and you can pretty much get anywhere very fast!

It is definately worth it. What is better than some sniper shooting at you, so you zipline down to him(or grapple up to him) and than shooting him in the face as he sits in his chair wondering.. wtf just happened.lol

Yep, SF is loads of fun. Warlord is my favorite map. I detest the night maps, so just stick to warlord, ghost mostly.

i actually find the night maps a refreshing change to just day maps

not like 5 nights in a row just day and night day and night

there is a thread on this somewhere in here search for it

Correction: No, he can run it with 4x AA. I'm with a P4 3.4Ghz, 2x1GB Ram and a 7800 GT, I run the game maxed out, with an FPS in both BF2 and SP on 65
