Trying to improve my chopper skills

After paying BF2 for a while, I think I may have found my favorite roll. I used to fly the choppers with a mouse and keyboard and did pretty well. I couldn't fly jets at all with them so I got a joystick to give that a try. I'm still not too good as a jet pilot, but now I'm getting really good at flying the chopper. I figured out how to strafe in a wide circle, do flips without crashing, hover 5 feet off the ground while spinning and a bunch of other manuvers. Now I am looking for some tips on combat.

I read a post a while ago from a good chopper pilot about what he expects from a gunner. What I would like is for some skilled gunners to let me know what they expect of a good pilot. Things like, "What is your priority list when in battle?" For example, if I have mobile AA and a chopper near by, should I aim you at the AA or the chopper or just fly for the hills.

Also, I would like to get a few tips from other pilots. A couple of things I wanted to ask specifically were, what is the best method of avoiding AA missles and does anyone have a screen shot that they can use to show me exactly where the center of the TV missle target system is when I am in pilot view.

Depends on what chopper you are in. The cobra can pull like 10 barrel rolls at about 60 ft while still staying above water (the first barrel roll requires like 30 ft of height.. the other ones you pretty much don't lose that much height because of the momentum).


But in your situation, AA or heli, you should NEVER be in that situation anyways. What you should do, is stay back, and let your gunner camera everything (AA, tanks, helis.... etc) and then move in, and when the AA respawns, blow it up... etc. Check every AA.

If you ever WERE in that situation... It depends on the gunner... if he can camera well, aim him at the chopper, RIGHT when you see the missle leave, do some manuevers to get away from the 2 missles, then aim him at the AA.

Most gunners like when you stay high so they can see everything in their camera missle view.
