To get the Tier 2 unlock, for example the L96A1 (or whatever) sniper. Do you need to buy Special forces and use ur unlock in that game, or can you get this unlock by just having battlefield 2?

You need SF for tier 3 unlocks (L96A1). M95 is a tier 2 and SVD is a tier 1. -

Oh okay thanks. And just one more thing, How would i get this unlock. like what order would i do things in.
Do i get promoted on bf2. then log into SF, get the tier 3 upgrade, then log back into bf2 and i can use it there?

I'm not exactly sure how it works (meaning I cant confirm this) but supposedly all you have to do is buy SF... then play one round on a ranked SF server and it will just give you 2 free unlocks (third tier).
Anyway thats what somebody told me. Other than that, I'm not even sure if you can get the 3rd tier even after you have all the 2nd teir unlocks without buying SF...
But all this is heresay and speculation. Can anyone provide a link that clears this mess up? Or explain it in detail?Comment

in order to get tier 3 unlocks you must have played one game as your user in SF. this will award you a certain number of unlocks (2, i think). there is no need to switch back and forth between sf and vanilla (plain bf2) to unlock guns.Comment

Even if you have SF you're not guaranteed the unlocks. There's some kind of bug that EA is supposedly working on that won't let you get the last unlocks, the P90 and L96. I should have unlocked them immediately and it never gave them to me (and yes I played SF first).Comment
