how do i make bf2 run faster?

hi how can i make bf2 runn faster whith out more menmory?just started playing bf2 agin after new patch1.22, last patch 1.2 made game a lag fest.still have a little lag but can live whtih it.please help ie will deleteing any files help.i deleted the inro movie so far.thanks

Defragging your drives may help a small bit. Eliminate all unnecessary processes running it the background.

Nothing will help it. I lost almost 50% FPS since the 1.2 patch, I think this whole pseudo-partnership with Nvidia has DICE requiring higher performing graphics cards as they come out. I seriously wouldn't doubt it. My setup runs every game as good as usual, but BF2 has gone from 70-90fps down to 25-50fps with nothing but the patch. The game used to NEVER go below 40 and now it hovers there 50% of the time.

Yeah the game does run slower now and the whole partnership with Nvidia is stupid because it discriminates against people who have ATI cards like myself and have to deal with crash issues in relation to the ATI videocards.

you should make a clean install, test update and test again and realyize that there is no conspiracy behind this btw if you do think that there is than just rename your bf2.exe file so the Nvidia driver wont recognise it as BF2...

you can't make it run faster. Anything above a 7800 GTX makes very little difference in bf2. Shows how sucky the engine is.

Ha, its funny becuse my ATI 9800 Pro is running better then the 6800 that some of my clan members have, And they just got it lol.

This is after 2 clean installs of Windows and nothing but the game. Also have BF2.exe renamed as per the optimization guide. I am not saying the Nvidia drivers are the problem, as several previous driver attempts did nothing to fix the problem, I am saying they are either terrible at fixing this game (quite evident at this point) and/or are intentionally making the game require better hardware to boost hardware sales of their sponsoring partner(s).

PS: My friend's ATi X800 Pro runs the game at the same performance level, and even my other friend's 6600 256MB card runs the game about the same (image quality isn't nearly as good but smoothness is the same).

if ur thinking about getting more memory for less stuttering...look for a list of unessary services in that xp optimization guide from tweakguides.com and then if u really need more memory (like i do) i shut off my anti-virus scanning b4 i play a game cuz i doubt ill get a virus in-game

2 gigs of memory should be the max you'll need for this game.
