    Re: Attack chopper sole pilots

the problem is with AA not getting a lock....that is what should be fixed, not switching.....it seems the problem is in how they have been dealing with the issues...

they are also fixing the boundry thing so when any part of the vehicle is out of bounds, all ppl in it take damage...

sometimes no one wants to gun.....i still shuld be able to fly heli....thas what i enjoy......so what if i have to switch seats to stay alive, if i can do it, i should be allowed to...

sometimes i get gunners that are so bad ide rather go solo....but i let them fly/gun anyway, or ill tell them what they're doing wrong...i tried holding ppl out of bounds in single-player.....last time i tried it, it was too hard......lol

i wont cry if they do get rid of seat-switching, ill just have to perfect my heli-skills.....

I can't wait to see the new patch.

Dude no matter how high or good you are this does not deserve any shine period. How lame is it to master a technique like this. Its like finding an exploit in the game to have unlimited ammo in the game. It may take some time and skill to get it right but anyone can master an exploit. Quiet a few people mastered this, why because its easy kills. Its lame to master such a lame ass tactic, like I said before leave it up to this community find a gay ass tactic and become a god at doing it.

ive died a ton of times trying to get ppl to gun for me....spamming 'get in' 'mount up'...and get 'no way man' ...then get bombed by a jet or tvguided....

its only an exploit because you cannot get AA locks, that is where the problem is, not the seat switching, there is nothing lame or exploitive about it

Carrying around tiny little packs that somehow contain ammo for every possible gun, rockets and nades is lamer then someone switching seats to fire a TV missle.

If we're going to do complain about needing a crew to use the Attack Choppers properly I'd like to ask that EA add more seats to tanks because driving down the street and firing the main gun all by yourself sure isn't realisitic either.

Quite a few mastered this ? Are you on drugs ? 90% of people who solo can't do it right at all. If you're referring to them being able to actually launch the missiles and surviving the seat-switching, I'll agree that many can do it properly but that's where it ends.

Also, I'm not disagreeing that it's a lame tactic. It IS: however, it beats being tied down to a gunner who CANNOT correctly use the tools given to him. Face it, beginners and absent-minded gunners are a hindrance and will lead you to an early grave faster than you can say "oh snap!".

Like I said in another thread, I can't wait to see how 1.3 will treat seat-switching: as far as solo flight is concerned, it will definitely separate the men from the boys.

You know where I have heard this before? When 1.12 AA missiles turned into 1.2. You know who said that? Guys who used to crash the plane 10 seconds after takeoff.

I'm not sure how to interpret your message: are you suggesting that my superior flying, hellfire and gunning skills will mysteriously vanish because the helicopters will lose the ability to remain airborne once a pilot switches seats ? You obviously haven't flown with or against me before. I'll be a threat even without these juicy TV missiles. ;-)~

                  Re: Attack chopper sole pilots

Here we go with the insults. Nope about 90% of the people I ran into will do.. Its an exploit, the ones posting here saying its not probally do it themselves.

I don't need to say much more, my opinion remains, and if it wasn't exploit why would EA be changing it? It was an exploit in Vietnam, and it is here to. You shouldn't be able to fly solo then jump into the second seat fire a tv missile and then go back in the driver seat, without even so much as one risk of falling out of the air.

I didn't say BF2 was the most realistic game out there, its not even meant to be, but that is lame. I am sure they didn't add that TV guided missile in with the intention of someone being able to actually master such a lame ass tactic.

I agree about the fact alot of gunners suck, but theres alot of factors a pilot will deal with. One team may have a good gunner and the other not, its something you got to deal with. It sure beats ass hats going to the edge of the map and putting you outside the map and letting you die, now I know you'd be highly ****ed off if you jumped into a chopper and was a victim to such a lamer.
I think team work should be what we look at here. I know rank doesn't mean everything but anytime i've ever had a guy jump in my helo that was atleast a master sgt, or above; has know exactly how to use that tv guided missile. I mean they said when they released the game that the new guys would be seperated from the high ranked guys who are good at the game. It would be nice to see something like how Americas Army is setup where 10 honors can't join servers that are 50+ honors or higher only.

I have ran into people who do it, and I can't gain altitude fast enough to reach their current position and end up dead, and thats not because I suck its just because I can't touch them from their location. When it comes down to a helo to helo fight I can usually win.

This isn't a tank thread, it isn't a thread about ammo packs no one said the game was realistic it does have some realism but not much, its arcade style. However the solo tv guiding is lame, and you can't even manage that on those SF helos.

                      Re: Attack chopper sole pilots

If you call it skill whatever, Im not worried I never once told you to stop it because I said so. I said its lame and how I feel about it, and in your post you even stated that, thats how I feel. Anyway I am not going to stop you from doing it EA will with the new patch.
Then again someone will find a new exploit in the new patch to abuse as always.. and like sloi said its a cheap tactic and he admitted to it. He also said that only afew can actually do it right and hit something, and your probally one of those people who can't do it correctly.

Why would me saying anything help. I'm suprised i haven't been called a whiner. It seems now these days anyway who post gets a mouth full of **** like they are doing something wrong for posting about the game. Theres whiners, and theres ones who actually know what they are talking about. I am not whining, I do just fine in the chopper, but if you have to win a helo vs helo fight by resorting to that sad tactic, then you've already showed me you suck anyway.
Like I told someone before I ran into aguy who had 9000 kills doing it and I said something to him, and asked him to vs me without using that tv guided ****. He lost everytime, and soon was back to doing it again. All he did the whole map was solo tv guide and then fly back to re-arm. Thats it, it must be nice to have a helo that will fly by itself while you take your time on selecting a target, that can't even see you. So a majority of the people doing it can't even fly correctly, all they did was read ona forum some where about it and tried it.

Besides all that I don't need to solo tv guide or have a gunner to do good. I can kill tanks just as easy. It beats waiting on a gunner who sucks to try to take the shot and kill. I usually just go after tanks and stuff myself, I never wait for a gunner unless I know them, or can see they are good already.
I have no problem killing infantry either without a gunner, and again I still don't need to solo tv guide. You act those missiles on the super cobra suck against tanks, and you have to depend entirely on a tv guided missile. Its easy to go up in the air and fire a missile down on a tank, reality is my kills came from going down and killing those tanks myself.

As for the distants of the AA on some maps that would be insane. If they increased the range any more there would be no way a chopper could out run a missile. I mean hiding behind stuff is easy but getting back to base when 2 different AA guns have got you locked one of them being half way accross the map, yeah that would chaotic. I don't think that needs to be changed.

                        Re: Attack chopper sole pilots

I occationally play on a Kubra only map where a few have mastered the solo TV skill. I shoot them down with the plane cannons or the Mobile AA. The only way with the mobile AA is when this person moves back to the pilot seat and flies to a new location, cannon fire, or doesn't know where I am hiding.

While it takes a lot of skill, it's definitely an exploit. They could easily be solved by either increasing the time to switch seats, make the chopper go even more out of control (spin faster, twist or flip), show up as a target for AA and planes, don't allow seat switching, delay the time to view tv, etc.

                          Re: Attack chopper sole pilots

I strongly suspect this is a nerf in fix clothing.
                          Here's why:
                          - There's nothing unrealsitc about a chopper continuing to hover after being abandoned. Real choppers go into autorotation even if they run out of fuel or lose their engine completely.

                          - If you get into a chopper on the ground the engine starts as soon as you're in the pilot's seat. When to switch to the gunner seat, the engines power down.

                          - Dice seems to be on a gameplay correction rampage. Attack choppers were ment to be teamwork focused assets. Given the other big tweak, it seems like they are trying to get things back inline with their vision for it.

                          - Track record. Dice did something very much like this to the BFV choppers too.

Gimp, a chopper does not gain altitude with autorotation. It still goes down, but at least its controllable and it doesnt "fall".
