Would you like to see a commander vehicle?

Should there be a vehicle specifically for commander in either BF2 or BF2142? I'm not sure what it would be but maybe some kind of AA or something similar and be made so that a only the commander can enter it and it is the only vehicle that the commander can enter.

This would stop commanders from using armor/airplane that should be used by someone who is not commanding, would provide an insentive to being commander and give the role a little more diversity.

I said no. I just don't see the point/benefits being that much of an incentive.

No real benefit other than making it a give-away of where the commander most likely is located. I would have a team or artillery on it in short order.

A mobile command trailer would be good, short range UAV support

yea a vihicle with very mush armor so it is dufficult to blow it

Maybe a small command center building or mobile tent type structure that only the commander can access? Make it C4 friendly so that commanders aren't indestructable.

Commanders cant use ANY vehicles?

That will solve the "inactive" commanders we see all the time :/

I voted no.
The commander ought to be commanding, rarely in a vehicle of any sort.
I think this would see a flood of newbie commanders wanting to show off in their special vehicle.
And as stated previously, now everyone would know where the commander is... which would eventually result in the vehicle being unused, since no one else can get in.

As far as a tent/command structure: no again. If its destrucible by C4 the commander will be dying regularly, and if not it would just be lame.

Not letting the commander get in any vehicles: no for the third time.
After destroying the enemy UAV & radar I tried to grab the just respawned attack chopper to make my get away, but the commander stopped me with a tank.
Would've been pretty bad for them if I could've gotten away, which I could've easily done with a change like this.

Yeah but then no one would want to command. I was trying to balance locking the commanders out of comabt vehicles while still making it a fun role to play.

Noob cammanders showing off their special vehicle would still be better than noob commanders camping in the only tank available to my team, IMO.

People already know where the commander is. Do a scan, see that guy that hasn't moved from some out of the way spot by the main base for the last five minutes. Yup, thats him.

I would make the commander vehicle fast enough to get out of the way of spec-ops and bombs (if they are paying attention).

The commander could still get in fixed AA positions and I would probably want to give him some form of AA on the vehicle.

I said 'no' without reading the whole thread.
A better question would have been, how about the commander having an imune hiding base?
A commander should dedicate his time to commanding and not have to look up every 2secs incase he gets a knife in the face!
A commander should have the option to just command and not even be on the map.

In a 'real' world the commander is never in any danger, doing the job he does. He dont need to hide in the bushes waiting to run and repair assets... he does it from his command point, far far away from any artillary strike lol.. it should be the same in BF2.
Commander commands and does NOT run around trying to get in armour/jet lol???
