    Configuring a Joystick for BF2?

Well, I heard the only way to go with flying Vehicles to a "professional" level is with a joy-stick (Though I'd love to argue against it). So, I borrowed a very old yet satisfactory joystick from a neighbor. It has a trigger, three thumb buttons, and 4 bottoms at the bottom, along with a thrust slider. I have a several problems though :

    - How do I use the mini-slider to set thrusting for a helicopter or jet? Because defaultly, it just increases or decreases according to how high or low my slider is. I'd rather have it set to 50% speed/thrust if my panel is in the middle, max speed/thrust if I leave it at the top, ect.

    - I *hate* inverted. I couldn't even fly the copter because I'd be rolling left when I turned my joystick right and I'd crash instantly. I don't mind the Y-Axis being that way as much.

    - Helicopter turn or roll assigned to my Joystick's X-Axis? Because, I can't really have both. But since my thumb buttons are in a triangular formation, I can simply have the bottom two strafe and X-Axis roll. But I don't know what's better.

    - I had to edit my control.con file to even get my Joystick to work with BF2 (I couldn't assign my X-Axis because it's convinced it's Y). Is that supposed to happen?

    Thanks guys.

well, for the throttle slider, it works as just another axis for mine. i just kept it in the middle, and when i went to assign the accelarate to it, i just pushed it up, and it set the axis for me, with the middle being 0 acceleration.

as for the other stuff like roll and turning, i use the logitech 3dpro...so it has that twist handle that acts as another axis.
