    fps

Recently I have been having horrible fps in games. I'll be in a game and it shoots down to under 30 and then itll shoot back up to 50-60 fps and im like wtf. It keeps happening and is really starting to annoy me. I have a Nvidia GeForce 6600GT 128mb card and I already turned off my overclock and cleared my bf2 cache and I am still getting the problem. Any suggestions?

It would be helpful to know what settings you run on. I had an x800xl that dipped into the 20-30 range during heavy fire, and the x800 is a better card than the 6600gt...but I ran some settings at high with most on medium.

It could be a high ping rate, try joining servers with a 40-80 ping
Also, kill all processes in task manager that you dont need and stop all services in control panel that you dont need( like Help & Support/Fast User Switching/Themes etc. )
Disable all firewalls and make sure that your gateway router has BF ports open

I used to have that card, run it @ 1024x768 which will make it look better and only dent your fps tiny bit. To get an fps I liked i ran the 6600GT mostly on medium settings but had to put some on low (dynamic shaddows & light off)

Are there any changes to your installation, hardware, etc. that coincide with the onset of problems? For example, did the problems start shortly after the last patch?

Given that it was fine and now it is not, something obviously changed and is the source of your problems.
