from strategy to fps

I used to exclusively play strategy games my last was Age of Empires. There I was in a clan called STORM and had a lot of fun for years, then I discovered BF42 and I was instantly over my aversion to FPS games, in fact my first night of BF42 went on for 11 hours LoL...

Any one else a convert from Strat to FPS and was it due to the BF series?

I used to play strategy games too. Like Command & Conquer. My first shooter also was Bf1942 but the first I was actually playing online was Bf Vietnam. I can't even play games like C&C anymore.

Yeah, that would be me. I used to play the Age series exclusively, and hang out at MFO and the Heavens sites. I actually got really angry when I dropped money on unreal way back when because it seemed like a complete waste of time and energy. But Age III sucks, it seemed to have some promise until it beacame obvious that Ensemble had completely abandoned everything that made the series special for the sake of selling a few units more this time around. Bought BF2 on a whim, and a week later dropped 2.5 large on a new machine to go with it. Haven't played another game since.

ya i bought age 3 hoping it was good but there is so little actual playing needed compared to earlier versions its like the game playes itself, nice graphics but boring to play...
