I don't think the commander should qualify for medals. His job is like the coach of an olympic swimmer. Just like in the olympics the swimmer gets the medal, not the coach, as it was the swimmer that put in all the work to earn it. He should be in the background helping his team win, not on the frontlines fighting. Now my personal opinion is to let the winning commander keep the 2x, but he/she should not qualify for a star, that should be left to the soldiers fighting the battle. Agree/Disagree/Thoughts?

Re: Commander gets medals?
Commanders are just as valuable to teams as groundpounders... if not more so.
I will say though... the current points system for commanders needs to be changed somehow. Even horrible commanders who do nothing can get gold stars.Comment

Re: Commander gets medals?
I have to agree. Currently commanders get the aggregate average of the their team's score at the end of the match - double that if they win.Originally posted by ZeframI will say though... the current points system for commanders needs to be changed somehow. NOTHING the commander does adds to his score. The concept is that if your team does well, you'll do well so you help you team get a good score, which in turn helps you get a good score.
Personally I think it should be like this:
- Commanders no longer get an aggregated average of their team scores, if someone is commander and they do nothing, then they get nothing
- 1 point earned each time UAV is placed
- 1 point earned for each kill with Artillery (this might make HUGE scores...not sure about this one because I would rather kill the 1 guy capturing a flag then kill 5 enemy in the middle of no where)
- 1 point earned for each kill if each kill with Artillery is defended
- 1 point earned when a squad leader requests a supply drop and you supply it
- 1 point earned if you order a squad to capture a flag and they actually capture it
Damit, in retrospec I think the system they have now is good. As I was creating the list above I realized that Commanders could rack up HUGE scores, more so than they do now. Yes, crappy commanders who do nothing can earn 'easy points', but that's what the MUTINY button is for.
So what I say is make doing a MUTINY easier. People who are in squads get 2 votes instead of one, perhaps???Comment

Re: Commander gets medals?
I believe it is fine. It actually takes a good commander to get the most points in a round. That usually goes to the good helo pilot or sometimes a good infantryman. If a commander pulls out the high score then give him the star.Comment

95% of the time... the comm with get the gold star on a team.
I've won rounds by just sitting in a transport doing nothing... not that I do that a lot.. lolComment

Re: Commander gets medals?
It does annoy me when you get pipped because you slogged your guts out and got 88 total score then commader gets double and gets 96 because of all the work you did with your trusty rifle and nades however I think the entire team should get +10 bonus for win (even though this will be exploited at every oppurtunity)Comment

Re: Commander gets medals?
Ithink the commanders are just as important as any other player (a good commander that is ) the points system is okay as it is i mean lets looks at it this way. Your on a sever with a good commander he has good spotting skills uav in the right places supplies when needed and good arty strikes it all adds to a win if done right. How many people say oh a commander shouldnt fight if hes in charge you cant win if you go fighting you cant do the commandersjob right so its a lose lose situation you either sit at the back and command or you go up front and fight and make a pigs ear of commanding either way people are going to whine on about commanders. I think the one thing a commander shouldnt get is medals for kills i commanded the other week and got my vetren spec ops kills which made me a bit mad as i wanted to get it fighting.Comment

voted for:
"No, he/she should get 2x but no star"
He isn`t at the battle-front, so he shouldn't get the medal which a true infantry soldier deserves.
But he should get the 2x bonus.Comment

I think it should stay how it is, we dont need anymore medals or awards at the moment!
The 2x bonus is enough anyhow, they get **** loads of points by doing nothing!Comment

TOTAL BULL5HIT
No 1 defends the main base, & assets more zealously than the commander, & we earn every cent of our "pay, & grade" when fighting "1337" teams of spec-op, & camping snipers (not to mention the base rapers in vehicles)

Re: Commander gets medals?
The poster who brought up the point of a points system to the commander for giving squads who request them supply drops etc, is that too often, the squads don't bother even asking for them, which means you, as a commander do one of two things.
1. Sit on a ready supply crate and do nothing with it (This I practically never do, as I feel there's always someone who could use it), which leads me to 2
2. Drop the supply crate where you think your team might need it, you might not always get it right, but it helps.Comment
