Playing SF w/ invalid BF2 Key

Recently my brother purchased BF2. We both installed the game but I used an invalid CD key in order to play on the LAN. When I try to play online I get the invalid cd key message. I want to purchase Special Forces and play that online. Will my invalid BF2 CD key prevent me from playing SF online?

If I put the original CD key for BF2 back, can I purchase 2 versions of SF and have it work online for both machines?

You will need to completely remove and reinstall the game but yes. That should work if you get separate legitcopies.
