I've been whoring command perty hard lately. Gping for my gold and the Distinguished Service Medal, just for giggles. It's a good thing the regs on the server I play on apresiate my command skills or I would have made myself unpopular over the last while!
:p
i get it sometimes i die, and it just says [killed], or i get random kills, while running along all by myself with no one anywhere near me by a weapon, or vehicle i never used
but if you resign as commander before you get those kills?
1: no you do not, sending up an artillery strike and then resigning will still not give you points for any kills although they do appear in the lowerleft of the hud as "you killed xxxxxx"

I can explain what happens. It's something with all the Battlefield games. Here's a way to test it:
Shoot a tank or any vehicle until it is on fire. Have an enemy stand next to it. Oftentimes when the vehicle explodes, it will credit you as killing the enemy with that vehicle.
So the explanation is, you either shot up a vehicle until it exploded and took people out (without the driver being in it, or he gets TKs), or you were the very last person to damage a vehicle before a person bailed and caused it to explode.
I've done this a few times on Dalian Plant. I'll load up a PKM and shoot every fighter flying along. A lot of the times they'll be hit with a stinger and start flaming, and I'll land a few rounds on them as they bail. Plane goes down, craters into people, I get the kill in the vehicle.
Er, dont suggest doing this too often. I once shot up a transport helo until the pilot bailed and it crashed into a friendly squad netting me 5 TKs >.<
its like when my heli is on fire and i bail out and it explodes, killing me saying i was killed by AH1Z or whatever......
but what about the one occasion i recall, where i had just joined the server, and hadnt fired a shot, nor had i seen any enemies yet.....theere is some unexplained phenomena goin on here
Other night i came around a corner in a jeep and smashed into a tank and blew it up. For one thing i had no C4 and the tank looked healthy? Stranger still i got an Su-34 kill and there wasnt a plane to be seen ? lol
I have been seeing a lot of these in the last week, I have even had a few weird ones myself. I'm flying a jet on wake and I get a kill with an AT mine (never played engineer all day)
Is a server bug. Friends of mine who run a server get that often, it's apparently a bug when an admin is overviewing the game in an IRC applet. (Or so I've heard).
It's worth noting that some of these oddities are like caused by vehicles exploding and taking people out. I've noobsprayed a tank just before it fell off a cliff and into water. When it blew, it took out the driver. I was credited with a tank (road) kill.
I've seen another instance were I put a couple rounds into a passing hummer that promtly circeled back to try to run me down... only to run over his own mines. Boom. I got credit for an AT mine kill.
It seems that the engine sometimes gets confused over suicedes and credits the kill to the last person who damaged it.
It's far from clearn, tho, and I doubt it's the only issue involved.
Last night I managed to get hit with a -2 team vehicle damage score, while I was commanding and hiding in a building.
