Need good review on the X-FI FATAL1TY

Let me start by saying im probbly in the wrong section so srry.

Anyways i own a x-fi music edition and am ****ed i cant use ultra high . Guess what i want to know is do you notice any improvments with x-ram?. Im not just looking at the FATAL1TY for the x-ram i really need a remote . But any reviews would be usefull thanks .

I just got an x-fi xtrememusic and I can run at ultra high. Perhaps you did not install your drivers right or something? I had alot of fun getting mine to work. Anyway, don't feed the Wendells. You're better off spending all that money on a 7800GTX or something.

It's not the sound card, you don't have something installed right.

Aside from the remote you will notice no diffrence between the two.

I went from AC97 to X-Fi last week and the onyl thing I saw was a big increase in FPS. Yes the sound does sound a litle crisper with the crystalizer on but I don't know where all the hype is coming from. It's really not that great. Best Sound card I have ever had, but still not that great. maybe I don't have it set up right? When I install it I can't even find that program with the cool blue skin that I see on the back of the box. Anyone know what I am missing?

I upgraded from AC97 to an audigy 2 last year and the difference was like night and day, so I'm quite surprised you didn't notice anything apart from the crystalliser.
But I don't think it's worth buying such a card if you don't have really good speakers behind it. I have a pair of Hi fi speakers that I built myself and no PC speaker kit (those with tiny cheap satellites and a subwoofer) that I've heard comes close to matching them or any other true speaker+amplifier combo, no matter how expensive they are.
Yet I only noticed the quality of the audigy's output when I finished my speakers and tried them on both the AC97 and the creative card

like bitvomit said, you're better off buying a decent graphics card

If you are having issues with the X-FI and BF2 here is a good place to look for a possible answer for you.
Near the end of the 300 freaking pages is a fix, replacing the Openal file in BF2.

There is no difference in the the two carsds' performance... you should overlock your CPU or buy a faster one thats it...

i have the fatal1ty and it is excellent. I bought it over the platinum model cos of the x-ram (was hoping to future proof a little better). however, nothing out there utilises the x-ram as of yet. If you just interested in the remote...that is offered in the platinum edition. Lastly, to get ultra high settings.....it is under high, but u need to sroll down using the slider to see it. I personally just run on high cos i hardly notice the difference between the 2 settings and high makes the game a little smoother (prolly about 5-10 fps difference) as you can see from my sig my rig is towards the higher end of things out there..

sorry dude but your talking out of ur back side.
im using this card with the 64 ram Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty,
there is defo a difference you can switch sound modes to get the best sound an performance out of your card.
if you switch it over to game mode then 64bit ram is in use an hell yes it makes a BIG difference,the sound is more crisper the sound comes through as you move,(just make sure you've set it up right)
you also get more fps due to the ram releasing some of the mobo ram.
the normal music card also has the 64 ram on the card but its not enabled,
it would of cost creative more money just to make different variations,
so they just made it with the ram on but just disabled it,
me an some friends found this out when we were at work(OVERCLOCKERS.CO.UK) we worked in tech.
at the moment theres no software avliable to unlock the ram on the card,fingers crossed it will be out soon.
a couple of my friends have been waiting months for it

I own the X-Fi Fatality and I think it rocks.

Music : I play a lot of mp3's 192kbps onwards and the sounds is pretty damn good. The software to adjust all levels of the sound control is superb.

Videos : Playing a dvd from my hd via X-Fi and my Logitec z5450 speakers is breath taking. It really can kick some arse.

Game : I seriously noticed the difference on games like battlefield. When you switch teh software into game mode. Select 5.1 sound. Select X-Fi ultra in game you get a superb sound. Laying down on karkand and hearing the tank rumble down teh street. Using the Sniper rifles and hearing the echo sound from the recoil. Its unreal.

If you do not own this then you need to own it. If you own it then you will love it :)

EDIT : when the X-Fi came out there was problems. I had them myself with drops in frame rates. This has all been sorted out now with updated drivers. If you do purchas one of these ( and plugging the above guys work place...www.overclockers.co.uk is a good place to buy stuff I get all my stuff form there ) then I suggest you download the latest drivers immidiatly.

Does ultra high actually sound much different from high? I'd recommend spending like $70 on an Audigy2 ZS rather than $280 on the fatality card. Then again if you think all that extra money is worth it then go for it...

Its difficult to tell if ultra is any different from high but if you look at my system you will see it makes no difference what I run it at I am still limited at 100fps :)

If you already have a sound card I would not purchas the audigy as you are only 1/2 stepping up. Either go the full hog and get the X-Fi Fatality or spend the money on other improvements to your system and think about the sound later.

but the difference is awsome
