Blazin recently started playing our server again lastnight, see my sig.
We run Karkand/Sharqui and Mashtuur at 3 rounds each, there are usually plenty of high rankers on and the maps are fast paced.
He used to play it all the time then he had a 24/7 karkand addiction.
He's starting to burn out on just plyaing that map though so he's made a return to our city maps server again.

You server is one of the best.

It's hard to keep track of good servers, and the word "good" is both relative and used loosely among different communities. Even with various groups displaying "golden lists" (as opposed to black lists--servers you want to avoid), the best way to get more and more servers to be good is to promote good administration.

If I had my own clan, I'd probably fork over some decent money for a couple 64-man servers, a couple locked clan slots, but with constant admin. Hell, I'd even have a 32-man server where anything goes. For those of you in IT, that would be my honeypot--let all the smacktards and hackers go there. The real gold would be a well moderated, low ping server with realistic rules. Base raping, dolphin diving, carpet bombing... those are all practices based on honor and skill. If you have both, you don't need to do any of those activities.

And what makes most servers good, besides the challenge, is its populace. Make sure you have a good set of visitors. Having an open door policy lets anyone in, including the undesireables. With constant administration and active enforcement of fair rules, you will quickly flush out the unwanted players so the good players (even if they are not as skilled) will thrive.

For the last two nights, I have been doing some real classic stuff. No great high score, but just some really nices moves. Its a shame that it aint got a battlerecorder.
Plus I killed Nastie_Bulter on there (that was a cool bonus)

If you play PTG be prepared for people to do ANYTHING to win. Sometimes I like that atmosphere but it's up to you whether you define that kind of attitude to be fun. Also a hella lot of PTG members will teamstack like total mother****ers. I don't know if they are going for WC or what, but they seem determined to never be on the losing team.

But like what the guy above said. It can be totally manic on the Path. Only the top skilled or top ping players will get on the top end of the scoreboard.

Welike to play on the same team, we do not team stack, if there is an obvious rank imbalance then we change, simple as that.

I don't mind playing to win, but if base raping (especially uncappables) is allowed or heavily practiced, I'll just excuse myself. I prefer playing to win in a sportsmanlike manner.

actually the method of your admin will heavily cut your player flow. I was once kicked from a server because I was doing spec op works in the main base. If you can't deal with the campers, leave the server. I (and i am sure many other players) don't like to play in a server with too many rules and restrictions.

I should have specified, sorry.

To me, the perceived understanding of the term "base raping" involves armor and aircraft hitting the enemy's last base, usually an uncappable airfield or carrier. The enemy will relentlessly bombard death upon the trapped players to rake up more points while the ticket counter is already rapidly diminishing.

Spawn camping/raping, while still unsavory, is a far lesser evil than base raping because we see it more when the two sides are fighting over a flag. If some idiot from the other team is dumb enough to keep spawning at the flag even though there is a strong enemy presence there, it's his fault.

The difference is that getting base raped is unavoidable 95% of the time. You have no choice, except for an escaped squad leader, to spawn safely. I feel that as an administrator, if you want to promote the image that your server is challenging and for a more mature demographic, you should discourage behavior that leaves the most sour of tastes in a visitor's mouth. Getting your ass handed to you by more than a 100-point margin is totally agreeable if you lost all the flags and had your team erradicated, PROVIDED YOU WEREN'T BASE RAPED. I would be willing to duke it out again on a server if I wasn't base raped. However, if the opponent, regardless of whatever excuses can be mustered, felt it was necessary to pin us down to 3 distinguishable spawn spots and hit those spots with tank shells, carpet bombs, and artillery, I'd rather keep looking for a different server.

Just my opinion.

Thought I'd plug our server too :) It's newer than the rest i think, only been going 3 months but we're a good bunch of players. You might have played on our CS:S server The Red Lion.
