Teamkills..how does it know who to blame?

Hi there, just a question for you all,
Now before i get some people answering, "Duh the person that kills the other guy" My question is a little more complex.

I was in a jet flying to get repairs and my teamate who was also in a jet came from the opposisite side and we collided. I got blamed for the team kill.

Another story, i was piloting a chopper, and a friednly chopper came from underneath and hit us and killed us. I punished for 2 teamkills.

Now, i not saying that the punishes were uncalled for, thats not my point in this thread. How does the game decide who killed who? I feel in my jet example i was as much to blame as my pilot teamate. But in the chopper example, i feel blaming me was uncalled for.

Not a rant at all, just a question.

Generally, in such situations, the power to punish is given to the player with the lower IQ, less common sense, less understanding, bigger mouth, and likelihood to use the punish function.

might be who has the most health/armor....for example if i crash a jeap/chopper/apc into a tank he will get the TK for it as the tank has more armor than the others.

unfortunatly the ai in bf2 doesn't really do this correctly, i believe and i could be wrong but i think it takes the strongest vehicle and credits it with the tk. I make this asumption from having had jeeps rammed my jet taking off and being given credit for the tk, jeeps hitting my tank and i get team vehicle damage, my accidently running over teammates with a jeep and getting the tk ...so I assume it is the strongest that gets the tk or damage credit, if someone knows more correct me I would love to learn.

That's weird though. See, we had a full HUMVEE. An APC was in front of us, and shot us. The driver hopped out, and the car exploded with the passengers and me in it. Strangely, the game recorded that the driver teamkilled all the passengers, not the enemy APC.

I think that it is based on the person who caused the last bit of "CRITICAL DAMAGE", critical damage being, the last blow inflicted that destroyed a vehicle, or caused death. Say if a friendly tank is in front of you, they slow dramatically, you jump out of the jeep hitting a bump causing damage to the jeep, then the jeep slams into the tank, if you caused more damage to your team vehicle, than the tank say causing one bar of damage, you would get the TK....make sense? correct me if i am wrong please....

Yeah thats right I believe. I have shot down a couple of choppers with the G36E when someone else took out like 98 percent of their health already and got credit for the kill. I believe TK's work the same way.

i used to hate it when i was piolting a full transport chopper acidentally crashed and got punished for all of them

I really dont think there is an exact science to the matter, i feel it is best explained above. I also am always taking pot shots at friendly choppers usually in thier refusal to drop 5 feet and pick me up, flying away with 6 empty seats, and enemy jet will come blasting, as i squeeze my trigger, and i get the kill, roger? TK kill that is......

for teamkills it just blames any random person and the twat it says you tked punishes you.

fly a bomber and get shot down/blown up, instant tk on your co-pilot. same with choppers. (been punished countless times as well).

someone crashes into you, like a plane into your chopper, says the chopper pilot tked 3 people or 6 if in the transport choppers. you then get banned till the next map. great

Oh man, that says it perfectly.

I threw a nade at an FAV that drove right up to our flag last night and some noob runs right up to the jeep as the nade explodes. Instant TK and punish.

Want a quick fix? DICE should try this:

Who ever was moving faster during the time of the kill gets the TK. Think about it. If you are a jet and you fly into a helo or tank, you were the moron that couldn't fly. If a helo is hovering and you happened to crash into him with another helo, it's up to the discretion of the victim. That should eliminate half the confusion of TKs right there.
