    hahahaha..

There is absolutely no skill involved in any videogame. You hold a controller or mouse/kb and if you've got better hand/eye coordination than another player, you're more skilled?

Personally, I feel that if a team is camping another, it's because the winning team is more "skilled" than the losing team. If your team let the pilot have over 100 points in a game, then you're to blame and the ones with the higher points ARE better than you.

Myself, whether destroying targets in a helicopter/jet, driving a tank and blasting away the opponent or being an infantry and taking over spawns and handling enemy tanks/APC or infantry, I play as a team player and I have since BF V.

BF V did require you to play better as you didn't have the grace of spawning just about anywhere, nor could you see your enemy on your mini-maps.

Personally I like BF2 better as there are more dynamics to losing/winning the game, but BF V brought me back to why I enjoy non-linear environments in videogames.

    PEACE

First off I have to call bullsh1t on this statement. Surgeons skills are based largely on their hand/eye coordination... real fighter pilots... crane operators... Nascar drivers... hundreds of 'real' tasks and occupations. Just because this isn't a real-life and 'important' skill doesn't mean it isn't a skill.

      Dictionary.com:

      Skill (noun)
      1. Proficiency, facility, or dexterity that is acquired or developed through training or experience. See Synonyms at ability.

      2. An art, trade, or technique, particularly one requiring use of the hands or body.
A developed talent or ability: writing skills.

      I think both definitions fit.

And I find that most people who dislike BFV only dislike it because they played BF1942 and resisted change. Same reason most everyone that 'hated' Quake2 were Quake1 players who didn't like the fact that it was different. People that were either open-minded about change or people that had never played the predecessors pretty much liked BFV and Q2 universally.

I liked the atmosphere and the weapons better int BFV. But BF2 has better grahich and stats tracking and a lot a of servers. I BFV was tracing my stats and had more ppl playing it I would "roll back" to the jungle HAHA
ps.: I dont want to flame, but BFV was more realistic than BF2 :P

From what I remember, rifles in BFV were far more accurate than in BF2.

I loved it, this is why:

                1) No stats... Who cared when you died? Respawn an run!

                2) Creative Kits

                3) Maps that Pwned all. Super creative stuff there.

                4) Music

                5) Thoes big boats with lots of guns. The one with the heli pad! Oh that was good!

                6) atmosphere. tanks had the right amount of inertia to them to feel real.

                7) personal AA

WHERE? Was this an upgrade? Or do I have to buy it?

i never played BFV multiplayer because at that time i had dial up but i really liked a lot of maps. I remember the picking up different things and flying them over to the beach in operation hastings. and i like BF2 better but it would have been great if they could have had some of the fetures. Alot of new threads are on boats. well BFv certanily had a varity and everyones always complaining about plane whores. well handheld AA's would change that as well.

The reason is probably that DICE wanted the game to feel like a totally new game instead of reusing old features from previous games. As I said...that's just a guess
What he said...and yes its a good guess: ^^^

                        Re: Battlefield Vietnam vs Battlefield2

BFV was great, ahhh that brings back some memories. Loved the helis, they were kickass. Huey was awesome, and being able to lower the winch and pick up a boat, fly over and drop it on the enemy was funny. All whilst pumping out the tunes.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the viet cong heli, geez I must be getting old, can't remember its name, but it had 4 rockets on it which you could fire all of them at once.

The weapons were a lot more accurate imho, but still took a lot of skill to use. Version 1.0 was pretty funny with all the US running around with the M60/LAW combo, that got quickly nerfed.

Oh and what about patch 1.2, now that was a real patch, new maps, weapons, vehicles, that was back when they cared less for the almighty dollar and giving players better value for money.

US didn't need the S2A shoulder mounted weapons, they had the M60 which would carve up helis, and the quad 50 CAL, that thing ripped through helis like butter. If you were getting raped, all you needed was the whole team to spawn with M60's and you could quickly take out the heli's.

Operation Hastings was my favourite map by far. Use to love going and stealing the enemy helis and using them against them, doing the circle of death in the heli. Oh my didn't people who couldn't fly use to cry about that. Hmmm no different to BF2 in that respect.

All these guys who want infantry battles, well some of the BFV maps had the best inf battles out. Plenty of buidlings to go inside.

POE was by far the best mod and that's why I'm eargely awaiting it for BF2.

BFV was great and I agree with what everyone else has said that I haven't mentioned.

Hmm there are lots of BFV old schoolers here, maybe we should get it on our BF2 unranked server and hook up with everyone here and get a game going?

Oh yeah!!! I remember that map (not the name though.) You go NVA and bring your little tunnel, put it behind their base, and repeatedly steal their choppers and planes.

ah yes good ol BFV... was great for its time, but unfortunately is absolutely no comparison for BF2. they are from to different generations of games.

with the introduction of a physics system BF2 instantly became a more realistic and BELIEVABLE environment. i laugh how somone else said BFv was more realistic than BF2 - as this simply isnt true no matter which way you look at it.

anyone remember all those scripted death animations we all knew so well? or how about the "death circling" attack hueys spamming flags with the greatest of ease. there were just to many "plastic fantastic" features in BFV that just make it silly to try to compare with the beasty engine we are always paying out on called bf2.

trust me - if we all had to go back to BFV tomorrow we would all REALLY start appreciating the updated engine we have been given :)

P>S i loved BFV - I knew it enough to know when it became outdated

Well, BFV is quite outdated in comparison to BF2, but damn, I do remember having quite a bit of fun in BFV as compared to BF2.

                              Pro's:

                              1) Playing for Fun - No stats to pad, check, whine about, etc.
                              2) Music - Jumping in a Tank with Wild Thing, Sufin' Bird, or Fortunate Son cranked, then heading into the thick of battle was quite exhilarating.
                              3) Mods - Got to say that the most fun ever in BFV was playing PoE mod.

Hell, this thread makes me want to get back into BFV and PoE while waiting for some decent mods for the BF2 Engine.

                                Re: Battlefield Vietnam vs Battlefield2

I don't know what people are talking about that the rifles had no accuracy in BF:V. I remember having many games where I could take out 6 people w/ 1 clip of the M16 (20 rounds) thats 3 bullets per kill. Although the AK was less accurate in the game, 2 accurate shots could take down an enemy.

I found that I had a hard time at first adapting to BF2 weapons at first cause they felt less accurate. I've become acclimated to them by now, but I remember it was not easy at first.

I don't know why so many people didn't take BF:V seriously. I liked it much better than 1942. Better atmosphere, better features, I loved playing "I fought the law" as I road around the jungle, only to be taken out by an incoming LAW missle, oh the irony.

Edit: The heli raping was a pain in the ass, but it was better than the karkand alley rape we have now.

Also BushViper was around in Vietnam, a guy who I consider the best BF:2 player out there, he had to practice his skills somewhere
