I had always thought the huge gap between First Sarg and Sarg Major came from the later being the highest rank in the game until 1.2. Then again I could be completely wrong.

it should go 100, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10 000, 25 000, 50 000, 75 000, and so on going up by 25 000 after

But then the difference between the following ranks is totally random which doesn't make any sense.

I don't know what DICE was thinking, but the points difference between the ranks is ridiculous.

Yeah yeah...this posts pops up every couple of weeks from someone who things that DiCE are stupid.

You do realise that they have to create a points system that will ensure that a small percentage, maybe only 1% make it to the very top and then the rest are spread out behind. They have to take into account the best players and what they are capable of and work it out from there. Opening the gap would only make it easier for everyone to gain the top rank and for some, that would mean the end of the game.

Then again, they could always put back the old ranking system that existed pre-patch 1.03:

It is a long gap, but im going to use the gap to get the expert badges before I need them. I mean it will take me long enough to get to 50,000 seeing how im at 140h with onlu 16899 points. But I have all veteran badges for the kits except for the enginer, which im workin on now, and all the basic badges. I have the veteran heal and ammo badges too. The other ones are gonna be hard to get. 30h in a ground or somethign like that. Thats really boring just sitting there for that long doing nothing and waiting to just die sometimes cause these damn things are weak and dont even kill a tank in 1 hit. Lame. Oh well. Ill just do it =P

ptegan, I don't think that he is commenting on the difficulty of gaining the required points but that the steps between the ranks don't make any sense. With your argument the points needed to get to the next rank should steadily go up (which they do up to a point) but then you have the new ranks where the number of points required to get from one to the next is seemingly random, which would mean that MORE people could gain some of those ranks because there is less of a gap. That doesn't make sense. No one here wants the number of points required for the ranks to be lowered like they did in that first patch.

Yeah, I'm at about 21,000 now and it will be my last rank. Nothing much to do during winter anyway, but now I'm much to busy to put in the game time. Plus there is FEAR, Serious SAM 2, and others to share time with.

Aint that bad, I was a first sergeant for less than two months. And I thought it was a fine gap.

edit: damn Zafram, you only have 315 hours?? Damn good job!

thing is how many hours u play a day. thing is for me i work and go to school full time and can only put in 2 hours or less a day and maybe more on the weekends so it tskes us alittle bit longer.
