what is it? I was in a chopper and killed someone on the ground and it said i killed them with a HYDRA 70 (might have been HYDRO i dont remember)

It's the non guided rockets that the cobra has. Sometimes instead of the vehicle, it shows the weapon from that vehicle that killed you.

It happens when the pilot bails and manages to fire any of his weapons prior to the ejection. Apparently it happens with all vehicles so you can see what the exact weapon was that killed you. Kind of a waste of space but it's a neat touch I guess.

So you can fire your rocket, bail and you can still kill him? I thuoght yoru rockets would just like disapear like it dos with a hand grenade when you die.

Hand grenades don't dissapear. I've gotten my revenge plenty of times.

Actually, they don't disapear when you are critically wounded, like the AT misiles sometimes do, but they might disapear if you are "killed" outright.
