      Re: Question on Ban time

for those that do not know what they are talking about
ie ALL above the posters here
here is the deal on Bans
      there IS no deal/rule !!!!
ALL admins/clans/servers do it anyway they want !
      (shuold still be valid reason)
either permanent or a set number of hours
reboots of server have NO effect on banlist
admins (some) can erase the WHOLE banlist
or remove 1 player at a time (except when some patched messed this up)
only way to get unbanned is to ask (nice) in the forum of the clan
or if you are lucky, get a buddy to ask admin in the game server
SOME clans may elect to have all bans timeout -
      but it their choice
in our clan - only sr admins can do permanent ban
jr admins can only ban for an hour and must document reason

        Re: Question on Ban time

Adding to what TopGun said as that's all true. Sounds to me like he got auto banned by the tkpunish system. If it happened immediately after those tk's and I mean instantly then you know it was an auto ban done by PB for tk'ing. Simple solution is to just try joining the server again. If you can't then you have been banned by an admin and take it up in their forums, explain your situation and I bet they will lift the ban for you.

These bans only last for a round. As soon as the next round comes up your good to go again.

Again most of these guys unfortunately don't have a clue (no flame intended) however this kind of mis-information isn't good.

Server reboots have nothing to do with the ban list. Ban lists still remain. Do you lose your windows setup when you reboot your PC? So why would you think the ban list would disappear its just an xml document.

Even new patch installs won't lose your banlist if your GSP is on the ball. Even new versions of BF2CC won't lose your banlist again if your GSP is on the ball and uses your old banlist.

Server admins can also backup their banlists.

Bans can last in seconds/minutes/hours/weeks/months etc all up to permanent.

Bans can be lifted individually or all the ban list can be cleared.

Bans can be added based on IP and CD hash. You can be banned when your not even connected to the server if the admin has your CD hash, which may have been kept to check on an incident reported and then if found true you may then be banned. Same applies to being banned for an incident in a previous round. Just because you think you got away with it doesn't mean you can't be banned later.
