Is there anyway in the properties on the launch icon to make my BF2 launch at my default 1440 X 900 resolution? If not what are the other widescreen resolution that are available from the list?

There are none, sorry. You will have to play either cropped or stretched, the BF2 engine does not support widescreen.

You can force refresh rate from the command line using these switches:

+szx XXXX +szy XXXX

e.g. "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
