cant keep connection. what a poorly designed game

i cant stay connected to a server for more then 5 minutes, even though the first week and a half i had the game i never had any problems. im ******* ****ed that i spent 70$ of a game so ****ty it cant even keep a connection. i have like, 40 ping mex while i am connected and have never had any problems with any other game or program. what do i have to do with this **** game to stay connected and be able to play without wishing cancer on the designers of this game???

You should be ashame of yourself! blaming the designers of the game before considering the possibility that it might be YOU who causes the disconnection, a lot of people play the game without disconnecting directly, so it is NOT a general problem. Check your firewall, internet, router connections/settings and your computer specs. and then go to church and PRAY that i forgive you for this act of stupidness.

Yes you have connection issues but I can play for 6 straight hours without a sqeak, must be the games fault.

I have just started getting this problem also. As soon as I enter a server, it says 'There is a problem with your connection' and takes me back into BF2 menu. It's only just started doing it...Windows Firewall is off, I turned Norton off aswell but it still happens. Any ideas?

got same problem . Sometime i can play hours without having it and sometime it just pops out and i have to reconnect :S its annoying and i know what you feel.

Im also getting this problem alot latley,i recently upgraded to 2x 7800gtx cards and i was told it could be over heating,and i was told to take the side of me pc iv not had any trouble since doing this..

try turning of your voip in the option menu. I had the same problem, turned voip off and it worked!!!

My solution to "Connection has been lost to the server"

1: Open forward port 16567 in your router (grant access to BF2.exe , if you have firewall!)
2: Update PunkBuster manuel (pbsetup.exe)
3: Delete "Battlefield 2" folder in Document & Settings (save your profil "001" to keep your settings).

WOILA! No more "connect has been lost to the server" issue.

Try disabling the wireless zero configuation service (control panel>admin tools>services, find "zero wireless config" or whatever, right click on it, then click 'stop')- that's waht fixed it for me.

There are a bunch of different things that are potential causes. Some of them are network issues (wireless latency, port issues) but some of them are not. As mentioned, turning off VOIP might solve it, depending on your system configuration, soundcard, drivers, etc. Also related, turning off EAX if you do not have a Creative X-Fi card has also solved the issue for some. Lastly if you are overclocking your video card this has been known to cause a connection dump as well, for some reason. My point is that even when it may appear to be an obvious network issue, sometimes it is not, so consider other possibilities.

So do a little research before you start wishing a plague on the game's designers.

I got disconnected after every round. I could re-connect, but after the round I would get disconnected again. Changed to another server and everything was fine. So I guess it can be a server issue too sometimes, good luck fixing this one.... (allthough changing a server, may sometimes also mean using another port, in which case it could be portforwarding again ...).

1) opening ports in routers is only for people running a server...useless to a client. I'm behind both a router and Norton firewall...no problems since day 1 as far as firewalling and ports is concerned.

2) THIS IS THE ANSWER!!!!! Update PB manually. The few occasions I had my connect issues identical to the posters, it was always PB.

3) not necessary as #2 is the problem, but specifically you only need to delete the contents of the CACHE folders here.

running on wireless too...
