Game still Choppy.....

I’d like to know from anyone with a half decent computer who is still experiencing chugging or stuttering within game.

I have downloaded the latest patch said to bring forth changes to improve server stability yet to no surprise the game runs worse then it did before….

The game ran perfectly fine for months, months ago before a sound issue that affected many players but was sorted out unlike the side effect, the stuttering graphics which has hindered many regardless of comp specs.

So please, if your getting this put forward your specs here as I’m going to phone EA, and refer this to them again….

i think EA games have problems keeping up technology

and the people that do not have such a good comp they run the game relly well becuse there hardware is supported i called ea up they said we do not support dual core processors and i was like wtf because the ment that i was only gettin 3.4ghz of my power thats whats making my game choppy

YOU HAVE A PROBLEM EA SUPPORT LASTEST HARDWARE IF YOU DON T
THEN RELEASE A PATCH.

Chugging and choppyness quite a bit here...just upgraded to a little better system. I'm getting 55-80 FPS and still getting the choppy shuttering!

AMD Athlon 3700+ (not overclocked, new stepping)

*edit* By the way, a week ago with my Athlon XP 2200+, 1gig of mismatched ram, ATI 9500 Pro, and Giga-byte board with a VIA chipset, it ran smooth at 25FPS!!! Now the graphics were horrid and all low or off settings, but still, if your FPS is 30+, it should run fine i would think.

also call of duty 2 when that was released did not support dual core but they decided to be nice and relese a patch 1.01 that made dual core work thats what ea have to do with bf2.

twnboarder u and i have the 6800 gs aswell and if you look in the bf2 readme the gs is not there thats aslo why we r getting crap game play

now i didnt no ea/dice didnt support duel core,seems odd.
but i checked with a freind who plays bf2 on a duel amd64 x2 4400 or somthing, and he says it very smooth.

to the ppl with duel 7800/900 what kind of power supply are you using ,600watts with a 30amprage on 12v rail? im curios.

as u may or maynot no you need some extra power if youre going to use sli,hence the sli-compalible psu.

if youre psu is fine(i.e lots of watts and good amperage on the 12v rail)then it is somthing else.

Ah, I didnt realize that. I wish they could do a smaller update for hardware support like this, and just have it automatically download when you start the game up. Its not like the file would have to be that large...

Have you guys tried defragging? My system spec is similar to yours and I only have problems after a patch when I skip defragging. Do you get the same choppiness in single player?

I just defragged last night...and you know, it was better. I thought it was possibly just the server i was on that was better, but maybe it was the defrag that helped. Also, I know most people on here probably realize this, but your hard drive is probably the biggest bottleneck in any high end system these days. Its almost a necessity to have a Raptor for your c:\ in my opinion. If i could afford it and the nForce4 chipset wasnt so goofy, I'd have 2 36gig raptors in raid 0.

The thought is nice, but it likely violates forum rules about software piracy posts and could get you banned. Please edit your post and remove it. People should be able to pay for their own defragmentation program of choice.

I consider my computer relatively good as for performance and quality but BF2 just eats it. It usually begins to manifest itself after continuous playing of, say, four or five rounds...
What I have noticed with DC processors is that if you disable one core it will give somewhat better performace and reduces "stuttering". Anyhow, I went ballistic and wanted to solve the problem, so I downclocked the processor to 2,6GHz to see if that helped, but it wasn't a problem, and neither is heat. So I went out and bought a new videocard, an Asus EAX X1900XTX to see if perhaps that would help, it played fine at the absolute highest settings, but I have not yet tried four or five rounds...
My previous videocard was a X1800XT, which I would say is also a good videocard. Hopefully this new card will be able to handle BF2 a bit better for long periods of time, which is usually when the problems arise...

After I defragged, that helped. Then I made sure to get all my updates from microsoft update, got all new drivers for chipset, BIOS, NVidia...then defragged again, then ran speed disk from Norton Utilities 2002, and rock on, no more issues at all, even turned a few things to high and put AA on 2x and still no problems!
