What FPS can I expect?

Hi,

My system is as following....

Mobo: ASUS A8N32-SLI/Deluxe
Graphic: ASUS EN7800GT DUAL/2DHTV (two 7800GT in SLI)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ -
Memory: Kingston 2 GB
Powersupply: 550 watt PSU
Sound: Creative X-FI Fatal1ty
Resolution: 1280x1024
BF2 graphics: all settings highest as possible
BF2 sound: X-FI, Ultri High & EAX eanbled

My question is, how many FPS can I expect with a system like mine, when playing eg. Sharqi Peninsula (64 player map)??

I ask because I have an avg. FPS of 40, which I'm not happy about, since my system is using SLI.

What is your setup and FPS?

maybe lower the AA to 4x? bf2 is one of the few games of this generation that pushes hardware hard.

How much RAM do you have?

My system is in my sig, and I have everything on high except dynamic shadows which are on medium, and 2* AA at 1024*768. Probably average in the 45 FPS zone, but it's hard to say because it usually varies between 30 and 70.

All of a sudden i'm lagging badly tooo.

Specs..

6600 gt pcie x16
1 gb ram
windowx xp home service pack2
p4 3.0 GHz

I used to run all medium now some are on low,medium and off :/

I've just edited my post. :) I have 2 GB or ram.

When I play Sharqi Peninsula (64 player map), running up and down the stairs in the construction yard, I have an FPS of 15-25, which is totally unplayable.

4400+ 64 X2 (on the same MoBo as you)
2 GB PC3200 (2 1GB DIMM on dual-channel)
7800GTX 256MB (only one)
550w

With everything on high, 4x AA, max view distance and 1024x768 @ 75 I've yet to see my FPS drop below 80 (it seldom drops below 90, actually). I only play the 32 player versions of the maps, though, but even still I don't see it kicking me down to 25 FPS. Something must be borked in your rig. Are you overheating, or not getting enough power or something? I can't imagine your rig not being able to handle 60+ FPS.

Man I envy you!

No overheating. My ssytem is watercooled and it works perfect. My CPU temp is about 33 degree celcius (dunno what that is in fahrenheit :)). My GPU temp is fine too.

Yesterday I pulled out all CI cards, reinstalled the computer and installed BF2 + patch 1.22.

On a totally freshly installed XP (SP2) without a sound card, I was able to get a FPS of 35-45 ... running in SLI!

I have had my graphic card replaced, still the same.

I have no idea what to try next.

I don't know if the FPS in BF2 goes up as high as you can manage

Yes, SLI is enabled and I've installed the latest NVidia drivers.

I have absolutely no idea, why my system is running so slow.

do you have AA or AF forced through the nvidia drivers? If you do, turn it off and let BF2 handle it in game.

I dunnno :hmm: . I haven't set any options in the NVidia setting excepts for enabling SLI.

Is there any other settings I need to be aware of?

I'm not really sure... I'm not too familar with Nvidia cards... I've only had Ati ones. =)

Yes it is. I play like that all the time.. welcome to my world..
Well close to my world...everyhting of mine is low with 800x600 and view distance of 75%. i must admit.. avoiding knifers with slow fps id hard as.
Feels clunky.
Cant join untill several CP's are capped.. but still
Love the game.

Go to the nVidia panel and make sure the settings for anistropic filtering and anti-aliasing are set to 'application controlled'. I believe they are set that way on default so if you haven't changed anything they should already be set that way, but double-check just in case. Also, remember that your MoBo has that extra power slot on it for when you're running SLI, so be sure you've plugged a power cable into it.
