I had quit for awhile, about 2k points short of making master sgt. I had burnt myself out on this game, but a couple days ago i took it back up and started playing with a vengeance. Made master sgt in no time... then, i tried to go for 1st sgt. same global score for each, you just need more badges for 1st sgt. i still didnt have basic pistol or basic knife, so i thought i would just go get them.
anyway, i was having trouble with the knife badge so i posted to get some advice... and got some. the bad news? if you dont have the badges before you make master sgt, you dont get 1st sgt ever! I wasn't quite convinced when i heard this so i kept trying for the knife badge and got it a little while ago... Yep. Its true. Gee, I wish I would have known this little tidbit of information three days ago...

So here is a new question, since I have all the badges now, and the master sgt rank, WHY IS MY RANK/PROGRESS BAR STILL FULL EVEN THOUGH I'M WAY PAST 20K POINTS AND MY NEXT RANK REMINDER STILL SAYS 1ST SGT? I dont get it... maybe I'm just dumb, can anyone help me figure this out?

The stat site is a bit confused...try another site

It could be a glitch

The next rank is Master Gunnery Sgt at 50K, but get the badges so you can get Sgt Mjr at 50K. I don't know if that helps

who cares about getting 1st Sgt. or Sgt. Maj.? you still got the same amount of unlocks, all you get is a fancier name and insignia and a couple badges

I was about to ask the same question, im about 47 points shy of master sargeant, and have yet to obtain both my basic pistol and knife badges.. my question was can you continue to get promoted afterwards, once you've recieved the badges and hit the milestone for points?

I sure as hell wanted it, but didn't realize you had to get all your basics BEFORE 20,000

Hey, how could you be 1337, if you had over 20,000 points, & weren't 1st Sarge??

But looking back now after getting expert in both pistol, & knife, it doesn't seem like such a big deal

You either get Master or 1st. You can't get Master sarge then go for 1st sarge later.

Think of it like a Y. You can go left or right depending on your stats. Probably shouldn't say this but 1st sarge is above Master sarge so you can have two players going for commander same score but one has more badges and is 1st sarge. He gets priority over Master sarge. Same for Master Gunnery and Sarge Mjr. That's the only real difference. Same unlocks and everything else though.

You will just be master sarge until master gunnery, then rank up as usual

No big deal, it is just an ego thing, UNLESS you, & a 1st Sarge apply for commander lol

cheers fellas, i been trying for my last basics for a couple of weeks and its gotten me nowhere, i was afraid id be stuck serving under ridiculous commanders for the rest of my playing days!

Well.. You have to stuck with master sgt. All the way to 50 k (Sgt. Major)
But if u become sgt. Major, or Master gunnery sgt., doesnt really matter anymore.. Cause u get the 2nd. Lieutnant rank at 60 k anyway... Back in the days, when 2nd.Lieutnant were 200 K , it did matter.. .Cause u were stuck with either Sgt. Major og Master Gunnery Sgt. Til 200 K.

When you apply for commander... the First Sargeant(20K with basic badges) trumps the Master Sargeant(20K without the badges)...

so if you want to apply for commander more often... First Sargeant gives you a better chance to get it.

Since higher ranked players get to command... First Sargeant is a higher rank than Master Sargeant.

LOL you think you guys got screwed well I was already above the required GS score when the new stats system came into place so after I installed the new patch I instantly ranked up and only needed 1 badge but it was too late. I would have been better getting it before applying the patch.

But as the others said it doesn't really matter.

it won't matter when you get to 50K... and then after that... we'll see how getting those EXPERT vehicle badges go...
