    Cant reinstall Bf2.

Well, A couple of weeks ago my mobo took a crap on me so I got a new pci-e mobo and gfx card. I also had to reformat my hard drive because I caught a nasty virus and windows wouldn't let me in.

I reinstalled every thing but I cant install BF2. It gets to the Dragon_Valley\server.zip and a small window pops up that says "Cant install Battlefield 2. Please start from the beginning."

The only error I get is that window. Nothing else shows up.

So I tryed a manual install. Every thing will copy to my HD but the data2.cab. It will stop copying and give me a Cyclic Reduncy Check error and shuts down.

I don't have any idea whats going on. I have tried every thing I can think of and EA tech support is a joke.

I think my CD1 is screwed. And no I'm not using a downloaded or burnt copy of the game.

      just to be sure...

have you tried cleaning the cd with some dawn + lukewarm water, and then waving it around like a madman until it dries?

if your cd is really bad, you have every right to ask EA to send you a new one. just go to their support pages and follow the directions. be patient, and be prepared for a LITTLE hassle--they're going to have to make sure you aren't b-ess-ing them in order to get a free CD.

      good luck

Cleaned it a couple of times. It has 2 little scraches that are not that deep so I dont think thats the problem.

          hmmm, interestink...

more complicated than a dirty drive....???

is udma enabled on your cd/dvd rom?

any conflicts in windows device manager?

do you have one of those funky 52x (super dewper overdrive) mode cd/dvd roms? is it engaged?

can you burn an iso (for backup/restore purposes only, you tbf2 thought police ) of the cd and retry?

i have heard of instances where a cd/dvd rom will choke on data as it is being piped through. this can also happen with bad ram, but you say everything was working ok before hand...

arghh. have to scratch my head and grab a brew.

well i think the best way to do it if you've got time on your hands is to download/or even borrow a friends copy of the game, and try to install it that way. Use your cd key. If you still use your cd to start the game, consider downloading a mini-iso of the game.

i def. think its your cd drive, if the disk was bad, you could tell, and secondly your computer might even lock up from reading it in a loop. if you've got an old comp with a cd drive, try to use that one (if you;re a bit of a techy). good luck

I use to think its my DVD drive also. But its the same one I used befor I upgraded to PCI-E. Doom3/ROE and Fear both installed with out a problem.

I sending my BF2 to Ea to get a new one. Lets hope this works. If not I'll just play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory tell Quake War's comes out.
