Re: The Shotgun Hitcode
dont get me wrong I love the things they are pretty much all I use. That being said they are horrificly sketchy Ive shot a guy 3 times at like 4 feet with a pump and not killed him other times Ive winged a guy at 30 feet and laid him on his ass :P after using a shotgun for a long period you just find they are very inconsistent.Comment

Re: The Shotgun Hitcode
Of course you are. Because if posting on different message boards for the past 10 years has taught me one thing, it's that everyone on the internet is the best there ever was at every game, owns at least ten different firearms in real life and is as accurate as Hathcock with all of them, is strong enough to bench press a midsized sedan, and knows karate.Originally posted by deadman2312Hmmm, i dunno man, in the real world im deadly with either, nothing random about them, like an extension of the soul:evil:
And yes, pretty much all guns are like that in-game (consistently inconsistent). Some days you can kill with them just by pointing them at the guy, other days you can let off a whole clip into someone's back from 10 feet away and only make him mad. It's just that kind of game (and it seems to be our love of the former that allows us to endure the latter
). I have noticed, however, that your bullets do about 4x damage when they hit a teammate. No joke; the other day I was at Chinese HQ in Songhua, sporting my trusty (lol) Type-85 and I knew enemies were about so when I went into a building and saw some guy prone by the flag I assumed it was a bad guy. I let two(!) bullets (yes, I had 28 remaining in the clip after this) into the guy - both of which hit the head and killed him. And this was a twitch-reflex reaction. Pity it was a teammate. I've let loose all 30 rounds into an enemy at that range and I'm lucky if he drops before the clip is empty.
But then again BF2 hates me some days. :P

Re: The Shotgun Hitcode
Not to mention, the BF series of games is probably the only one where you actually need to lead your shot even at 5 feet away if the guy is moving horizontal to you.
If you have a bad enough ping, leading your shot at any distance is required, of course. But this game is very drastic on how much you need to lead your shot at close quarters in comparison to other game engines.
Personally, I pretty much use nothing but the DAO, it is very good for close quarters.Comment

Re: The Shotgun Hitcode
Well, Substitute Jeet Kune Do for Karate, put in 9 guns, if you count my two 1851 cap and ball revolvers, and "pretty sucky with a rifle, shooting Marksman IDPA CDP class" and I can bench press maybe 30kg :p then I fit the bill.Originally posted by Wolfgang AbenteuerOf course you are. No seriously, the M11-87 IS flawed. Sometimes, as the original poster says, you can seriously tear the other team a new hole, other days you can't hit the broadside of a barn with it.
I'm not saying I should be able to win each and every gunfight, but the inconsitancies are there.
Now I mainly use the AK-47/AK-101 and the M24 and the M11-87. I sometimes haul out the PP-19 and the DAO-12, but a lot of my recent experience has been with the pump shotgun.
There are times when you can wing a guy at 100m and drop him with a single shot while others require 3 or 4 shots at close range. Who ever gets to shoot someone 4 times with the slow assed pump shotgun. Who taught this guy how to work a pump in the first place. He should be ashamed.
The inconsitancies with the other weapons like the AK can be written up as doing it diferently each time. However you can't do it differently with the pump. You get close, you aim at their neck, you pull the trigger.
There isn't any cyclic rate full auto/burst fire full auto/rapid semi auto/slow semi auto choices, it is aim, fire.
There isn't any zoom to aim, or don't. It's simply point and click. And you get a different result every time. Almost.
It is majorly anoying when you can't rely on your gun to do the same thing each time, but the couple of long shots you do make, make up for it IMHO.
However overall I'm pretty happy with the pump actions. I just wish the damn guy would work that pump faster.
Oh, and incase you missed the other's I've posted

My Remington 870 3" magnum getting a work out at a 3 gun match.
