We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
2GB is needed to play the game on absolute highest settings and high resolution. It also eliminates "coughing" in the start of a game. You cant go wrong with 2GB.
Bf2 does not need 2 gigs at all, it utualizes maybe 1.5 for your total system if you already have process running. i idle at about 250 (18%) mb ram usage, while playing bf2 it goes to a max of around 900mb (41-43%) system usage.
Loading times is influenced more by 1.) cpu speed, and 2.) ram bandwith/speed/latency.
adding more that 1-1.5 gigs is a waste in relation to bf2.
the difference from 512mb-1gb is dramatic, the change from 1-1.5 nearly nothing, from 1.5 to 2.mb nothing.
of course this depends on your system and what crap is on it.

you mean the coughing "was" eliminated. It was good until all these patches came then brought it back..ugh
oh ya, another plus is the ability to alt+tab in and out of the game w/o lag/performance issues. not sure if im the only one who talks to ppl on msn/yahoo while playin bf2 :p
oh, when you quiting out of bf2. no more lag, i can close it out and open up another applicatoin seamlessly
my friend has 4 gigs, and two 7800gtx, he unlocked an ultra-high setting in the game, and it loads in seconds...its distracting to watch the graphics tho, which is the only con...
I went from 1Gb (single-channel mode) to 2Gb (dual-channel mode) and didn't notice any in-game performance. I did notice it is much easier to alt+tab out of game with no crash or delay.
1.0 - 1.5 should be good for you, IMO.
There is no point in going overboard on a certain aspect of your computer if a bottleneck is present somewhere else.
I upgraded to 2 gig and it greatly increased gameplay, all but eliminated that fresh round frame studder. I can still play at 40+fps at 6x AA on my X800 Sapphire, but I usually drop it to 4x AA to get a boost in frames. Although, picking off troops at extreme distances is cake with 6x AA
