Re: Worst System Specs (BF2 Playable)

I built a PC for a friend out of my scrap bin and Ebay finds, the computer with 21" HP CRT cost $45.00

    P4 1.6Ghz
    768mb PC2100 CL3
    20GB ATA100 Maxtor
    MSI Mobo (Ebay $25.00 shipped)
    My old Radeon 9600Pro
Cheapo Case $20.00 (came with 350W PSU), spraypainted with red primer and "Granite texture" paint to give it a look like the rusted underside of a ship.
    NEC 4X DVD-ROM
    SB Live!

It plays, the framerates are not supreme, but it is playable.

        p3 900mhz
        384 mb ram
        radion x700
        integrated sound card

Re: Worst System Specs (BF2 Playable)

Thanks for making me feel better!

My paperweights are more like powerhouses compared to some of the specs listed here!

We should all get together for a "Bargain-Basement-Battlefield-Brawl"

My system#2 ran on a radeon8500 until that one patch came out and killed the framerates on those cards. Is that fixed yet? Maybe I could build a new "Bottom-of-the-Barrel-Battlefield-Box" with just enough FPS to make you smash everything on your desk but continue playing none-the-less.

I have to play on a 2800+ AMD, 1gb ddr running underclocked at 2700, GF6600GT with only 128mb on it. My harddrives range from 5400 to 7200. The most i get with ALL ON LOW settings is about 40fps at the best of times.

Re: Worst System Specs (BF2 Playable)

When BF2 came out, I had a P4 2.8GHz with 512MB RAM and a GeForce 5200FX PCI. I did manage frame rates in the 15-25 range with that setup at 800x600 and everything set to low.

Now all that's left of the original setup is the CPU, but now it works alongside 1GB RAM and a GeForce 7800GS. Now I'm running everything on medium/high at 1280x1024, and I get 40-60FPS.

I've probably spent close to a grand on hardware just to play this game in reasonable style.

                              yeah...same boat.
                              1.8 Celeron
                              512 RAM
                              5200 fx PCI

I would kill for 40 fps as the OP stated. 20fps is the best I can get. I'd love to have the $ to upgrade...

Half the reason I joined the army was for disposable income. Food and shelter are paid for or provided. Health care is, too.
Only bills are for my car, phone, cable internet.
That's how I was able to put this rig together, and a similar one for my wife.
