    x-fi crashing

Ok so I just installed an x-fi extrememusic sound card, went in bf2 to try the "x-fi" settings, but every time I change the option in the audio menu and hit apply it crashes to the desktop.

I've never had any crash-related problems with bf2 before, and the card is working fine - works perfectly with every other game I have etc.

    my relevent system specs are:

    a64 3800+ s939
    1gb ram
    7900gt

bf2 is patched to the newest version and i have all the latest drivers for all my hardware so I don't know what the problem could be...

    Re: x-fi crashing

    this is watcha do.

    go to creative.com
    find Drivers
select your language and device (x-fi xtreme music)
download the latest DRIVERS. dont worry about software and applications, just pick the newest drivers.
open them once they are downloaded. DO NOT uninstall the current drivers, this will mess things up. keep the current drivers installed, and install the new ones. it will automatically update, once it is finished restart.
after you restart, MAKE SURE your x-fi is in Gaming Mode. this is a biggie, so once it is in gaming mode open bf2. and set it to x-fi, and ultra high, and hit apply and it should work. enjoy.

    quick recap:
    -creative website
    -download latest drivers
-without uninstalling old ones, install/update new ones
    -restart
    -gaming mode
    -bf2, sound changes
    -have fun.
