Clean Install. (Help Please!)

I have a friend who is running Windows 2000. Viruses have taking over his PC and while trying to get rid of the viruses he has deleted some system files and he is no unable to download and install programs. I have found his windows 2000 disk and CD-key but im stcuk.


How do I get rid of everything on the HARD DRIVE so I can install Windows 2000 without any problems or viruses?

Boot off the CD from the bios. You might need a win2k floopy boot disk(s) or you might be able to boot straight off the CD.

Restart the PC.

The very first txt that comes up, look for wording like press F1 to enter BIOS. It might also be other key like DEL or other. Your motehr board manual, will have this info.

In there look for boot order or sequence, and make sure your CD/DVD is listed before your hard drives. Save and exit, and make sure CD is in drive. Then it should start from there.

When inside the install make sure to delete old partition, and not install on top of it.

If booting from CD doesn't work, boot from a floppy like mentioned above. E.g. create one with tools here http://www.bootdisk.com/

Should the disk alone go to boot?

Like the messese "Press any key to boot from disk..."
