I command in the vehicles no one ever wants to use. If I'm USMC on any map that has the carrier, I'll jump in one of the 5 RIBs that no one EVER uses (why? cuz when you're in a rib, there's a very good chance an oportunistic enemy pilot will see you and blow you out of the water....everyone knows that). Those give you good Transport time.

I never command in armor. NEVER! Armor is too valueable to the infantry. I never command in aircraft. If I see a commander in aircraft, I'm sorry, I'm getting a TK and shooting that jerk down, unless he specifically stated he's using it as a transport to cap a base.

Sometimes as commander, I will cap a base, especially if my team of pubs are not responding to my commands. There's been times on Wake where I'd keep telling them to go to South base when they only had north, but never would. So I'd jump in a jet, parachute out over the base and cap it, since I knew it was undefended from my 5 commands to attack base and 10 scans not seeing a red dot anywhere near it. That is about the only time a commander should be in an aircraft. Commanders that use aircraft to get kills are just wasting our time and thiers. They just want the 2X score and should be TK'd.

WoW, if you are commanding a team, & there is a jet sitting on the runway w/ no 1 wanting to fly it you've got trouble, I would probably resign commander, & stay in the air lol

Commanders have no business in armor, I'll give ya that. However, I have no problem with a commander sitting in a MG or TOW if nobody else is using it. The MG by the USMC gas station on Karkand is a prime example. I also don't mind a commander using a jeep/vodnik to defend assets if there are extras lying around.

I actually got my basic helicopter badge on Dalian plant as chinese commander. We were playing a large map with very very few people. I sat in the very back seat in the flying cow and commanded from there. People still used the chopper, and I never took a seat from someone else as the chopper was NEVER full when it took off. If the pilot got shot down, I respawned at the base and did the same. If the pilot flew solo and jumped out, I took over as pilot and returned to the helipad.

A commander should never hog armour, but part of being a good commander is protecting the main base w/ mounted MG, TOW, or AA

If the commander is doing his job, & spotting all the enemy, he can multi-task out of commander screen, & defend the base

I know seeing a commander in armor ticks everyone off. But try talking to them or chatting before getting too upset or TKing. I'll sometimes sit in an asset to keep it from getting stolen or to help me defend, but only when nobody on my team is using it. On a lot of pub servers I'll beg someone to take and use our tank, as Americans on Sharqi for example. But if nobody does I'll sit in it.

So have some courtesy and ask for it. I think a lot of the commanders you see doing this will give it to you happily.

As far as using Ground or Air Defense, I'm all for commanders doing it. Except for on the carrier if someone is willing to man both Essex guns then you should let them. But quite often they sit empty and someone should get in it. So don't assume they're a jerk unless they jumped in it right at the beginning of the round.

I got so many kills on that MG, when noobs would run towars my back down the middle of the road

I do too. I also hate seeing commanders that hog this Essex up. It's the best damn AA location on any map and lo and behold some crapshiz commander is using it to whore his score up. No thanks.

It's a Phalanx, The Essex is the whole Aircraft Carrier. and No Nobody Uses the second Phalanx and it is a good place for the Commander to hang out and cover the rear.

Nobody ever uses the ground defense anyway, so I don't see any problems with that.
